completely forgetting about retroarch and its nsp version that improves n64 emulation???

to the OP

N64 emulation isnt bad, but far from perfect, even on a PC N64 isnt considered as perfect.
I really don't like this lie that's spread about. My Windows XP could run most games perfectly at the time. I think this is just something one person said with ignorance, and it spread about by people who try to believe they know what they're talking about, when they really don't. It's bandwagon-pseudo-knowledge. At least given today's machines, PCs, the Switch, etc., can run practically every single game perfectly. It's in no way "far from perfect", especially, "Even on a PC". I really wish people would stop spreading this bs about.

Running most games perfectly is not all games. Perfect isn't perfect unless it's completely perfect.

Running a few games very poorly =/= "very difficult to emulate". Also, every game i tried on my xp YEARS ago worked flawlessly. Even tougher ones like Pokemon Puzzle League. What youre giving me doesnt really further what im arguing against.

I looked it up because I was curious.

"We archieved pixel accuracy in most games with Angrylion RDP-Plus (requires a very good CPU and is entirely CPU dependent since its a software renderer)."

Still only most games. Not talking about speed here, only accuracy.

But i guess i get what you're saying. "Almost perfect" is also not "far from perfect"

I'm not getting involved in the "is N64 emulation perfect or not" debate that's going on, because I don't really care but on a note about Switch emulation vs PC I never could get Resident Evil 2 and Indiana Jones & The Infernal Machine to work on Project64 and I didn't think those games would ever be emulated but they were able to get them to work great on Switch, so that's pretty cool.

Emulation is by definition flawed,it will never be the same or perfect compared to the original, doesnt mean there isin't any advantages to emulation(upscaling, savestates, format)

what the hell did you just crap out here?

n64 emulation still to this date has issues, regardless of your hardware, we still see some roms that dont run at all or has issues that makes it far from perfect.

you seem to forget even to this day, n64 emulators are ports of either glide, pj and its plugins.

do the world a favour and actually learn something before claiming someone is wrong, ive been using n64 emulators for nearly 20 years and while it has seen improvements, you still run into issues with certain roms.

to claim it runs perfectly would be running identically as it would on the n64 console itself, heres 2 off top of my head i know you wont be able to emulate "perfectly"

Something is making me think that you haven’t touched mupen64plus-next anytime recently

He made the argument that Switch emulation was crap before, so probably not.

Especially since I have nro2nsp forwarders for both Resident Evil 2 and Indiana Jones as they work perfectly thanks to m4xw.

Is Nintendo 64 emulation still bad on Nintendo switch? Running Super mario 64 with slowdowns. Is this normal? Do I really have to overclock it to run properly??

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Using retroarch btw

No, you can often underclock and its on par with PC versions.

Than why does it run so bad??

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

how do I make it run full speed?

Don't use album if you are. Hold R and start an installed game, it will take you to homebrew menu with extra ram. Then start Retroarch, then mupen64plus-next.

This is incorrect. N64 is great with the strides with with GlideN64 not only on PC, but with the Mupen64Plus-Next core which uses that updated GlideN64.

In short, I have been able to play Donkey Kong 64, RE2, Zelda OOT and many other games in Retroarch on Switch with no issues. N64 emulation is working very very good right now with few issues. It seems almost all games are completely playable fullspeed.

Please. How were you able to do that? Super mario runs like shit on mine. Do I need to overclock it?

So I went ahead and overclocked it.Tried Banjoo Kazooie and it still ran like shit

I still don't think you're holding R on an installed game and starting it to access homebrew like you said you were because you said something about "I need to install the nsp to run better" or something like that. You don't need to install a certain game you need to hold R on any installed switch game and start it to get the ram. It's never going to work well unless you do that. If you don't have any games installed on the switch you won't be able to get the extra ram. There's no need for me to keep repeating myself it's working fine for me doing these things and I've told you everything you need to do to get it working well.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Also IIRC correctly Banjo Kazooie is a problem game and as you can see by this thread N64 emulation is not perfect on Switch so try multiple games with holding R on a installed game and overclocking, not just one.

Please understand that if I only run Retroarch through gallery , the games would not even start. I am running through the games themselves like you said!!!! Does it matter if I run it through atmosphere tho? Please answer me this though. Is it normal for Super mario 64 to lag when using retroarch WITHOUT overclocking? That's what I want to know!
