So were I can find a step by step guide to do backup, hack a Switch and install Atmosphere?

My Switch is on firmware 5.1.0 and yes I looked at the serial number, is hackable.

If you don't care about online play with legitimately purchased games, then I recommend this guide:
https://switch.homebrew.guide/gettingstarted/beforestarting

If you plan on using online play with legitimately purchased games, I recommend this guide and setting up an emuNAND:
https://nh-server.github.io/switch-guide/user_guide/getting_started/

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I've updated the clean emuNAND and everything worked flawlessly, but an message popped up asking if the SD card should be formatted and I clicked on Delete (I thought that it wouldn't delete hekate and everything, and I was right)
Is there any trace on my SD card that it didn't format?
I'm not sure what you're asking.

If I want Online play with legitimately purchased games I will get another Switch. Thank you, it definitely looks Switch hacking is much harder.

It's really not hard. It looks more daunting than it is.

Also, if you use your hacks with an emuNAND and you keep your sysNAND clean, there's no reason to buy a second Switch for online play.

hello.

is this correct?

i am looking at this website, and am looking to install EmuMMC Atmosphere. from what i can tell this will guide me to install EmuMMC, and not even touch SysNAND. correct? do i need to back-up SysNAND? i don't see any instructions to do so, but do see some to restore under Extra. i have an unpatched Switch on firmware 3.0.0. if installing EmuMMC Atmosphere doesn't touch SysNAND, would just be okay for me to go ahead and update to the latest firmware and install EmuMMC Atmosphere later?

EDIT :

okay! i just got done reading through here > https://gbatemp.net/threads/what-is...-unpatched-switch-with-firmware-4-1-0.545406/

from the sounds of it... what i want to do is create an EmuMMC for Atmosphere from my current 3.0.0 and just set that to the side. then we can update our SysNAND to the latest Switch firmware through official way burning the fuse, and create another EmuMMC for using the latest version. this way, if for whatever reason i wanted to, i can always just use EmuMMC if wanting to use an older firmware version. this will also leave my SysNAND completely untouched allowing for 100% legit play.

does this sound correct? anyone?

I have a nand backup which I took when I had exfat SD. Not I've moved to fat32. How do I restore my nand?

I want to restore my 4.0.0 clean nand and then create emummc from there.

hey people

i have an early nintendo switch that is fully exploitable.
i am on firmware 6.1.0
i have not done anything with it, other than play a few official games and gone on the nintendo shop so have an online account associated.
i plan to use latest atmosphere for offline games
i plan to use it in future to do online games, clean nand

question i have....
do i take a nand backup of my sysnand whilst it is on 6.1.0, or no point?
should i just update my sysnand to latest official and then take a nandbackup and mod that.
thus i can play all games and have a clean nand for offline?

thanks

I'm not sure what you're asking.
lol
I tried to simplify the issue but probably I made it more confusing.

Basically I've initialized the clean emuNAND, and the system asks you to format the SD card if it was used before on it (or on another switch).
I've formatted it through a dialog in the system, imagining that it would be safe to do this (and it it was, thanks to emuMMC)
I'll be more specific this time:
Does emuMMC virtualizes my microSD, showing Nintendo only what's inside that RAW folder? Because if it doesn't, I am afraid that Ninty could detect that the SD formatted but its free space didn't change.

You're unlikely to get banned for anything on your SD card.

Hello, i have a few questions about sysnand, emummc and online (bans).

Is it possible to make a emmuMMC that doesn't have any serial info / console id info / wifi settings and use it to play homebrew / install nsp / etc and use the sysnand to go online without "risk" of getting banned ? (like with 3ds emunand fully unlinked from sysnand but without any console specific info that can lead to a ban)

Using android on an emuMMC will ban my switch sysnand if i go online ?

Yes. This is usually the purpose of an emuNAND. If you setup an emuNAND and either a.) Keep it offline, or b.) Install Incognito and/or 90DNS, then you can do whatever you want with the emuNAND without fear of being banned.

No. Using Android on your Switch doesn't touch your sysNAND or emuNAND. It's a separate thing that runs off a dedicated SD card. Since it doesn't touch Horizon (the Switch OS) at all, it is very unlikely to cause a ban.

Okay thanks for the answers :)

In the first step of the tutorial about setting up emunand it's said that we need to clean sysnand (skip if new one or never hacked), in case of an already clean sysnand (just games updates with legit stuff like dlc and games) is it necessary to clean it ?

If your NAND is already clean, you don't need to clean it. If you've installed NSP files, for example, then it's dirty and needs to be cleaned. Restoring a clean NAND backup is the recommended way of cleaning your NAND. You can also clean your sysNAND after making the emuNAND.

Which guide are you following?

That is all correct although there are ways of updating your sysMMC partition without burning fuses.

if i boot into stock sysnand and connect my switch to internet will i get banned?
If your console is hacked and you do not restore a clean NAND backup, there is always a risk that you will be banned.

do you let your switch in rcm mode in dock, when you go to work or do you let in sleep mode ?
There is no reason to leave the Switch in RCM for extended periods of time. Sleep mode is designed for this purpose specifically.

You should have a backup of your NAND in case it gets bricked. As for the best way to play games online while enjoying Atmosphere, you should setup an emuMMC partition. Then you can load Atmosphere in your emuMMC partition and play your games online in sysMMC.

wouldn't this require having to hack it in the first place? i would rather not touch sysnand with any hack. from what i can tell, there's no real reason to touch sysnand anymore. is there any actual benefit to this?
