SysNAND and EmuNAND management

Hi, I've been looking around for an answer to my specific question, but cannot seem to find it.

I have a V1 original Switch with Atmosphere, and was curious about how I could see the different partitions that are on my Switch in CFW.

During my time owning a Switch with CFW, I know that backing up your NAND is a good idea. But, where am I able to view this backup? Or how can I know that I have backed it up before successfully?

Also, in certain situations, maybe for downloading a backup, etc., the instructions sometimes say to make another emunand, for example. I have forgotten if you can make another sysnand. Anyway, where can I check to see if I have multiple emunands? Where do they go? Do I ever need to delete one?

I just want to stay organized a bit more and learn how to tell my nand is clean.

How to see how many partitions - Easiest would just be to look at it on a partitioning application or Window's Computer Management -> Disk-Management. Then just compute the unknown/unallocated sectors since it's usually 29GB per nand. Otherwise 58GB for OLED. In theory emunand tool can also do this better.

Hard to say if you're clean unless you are the only one that ever used it. Like doing any installs is a definite ban. I know someone who got away with downgrading to a much older backup nand and was able to get online.

The only sure way is to boot stock and check if you are able to connect to the eShop.

There is two types of EmuNAND:

• RAW Partition Based
• File Based

In order to backup and manage the File Based EmuNAND you only need to copy the folder.

For RAW Partition Based you need a tool which allow you to backup the data, on windows you can use EmuTool on linux DD

You can use EmuTool to convert RAW Partition Based to Files and vice-versa today there is no advantage on RAW Partition based EmuNANDs on the past where a big difference on access time between them but today is indistinguishable.

The EmuNANDs are controlled by the file SDMC:/emuMMC/emummc.ini that file tells atmosphere which EmuNAND load and if that EmuNAND is file or RAW Partition based and how to find it. Hekate have a GUI called NYX which can handle and setup that file. you can have up to 4 EmuNANDs on your system and toggle between them using NYX (or manually editing emummc.ini).
