Delete everything in apps>wiiflow. Replace with new installation. Make sure nothing is plugged into USB ports. Start WFL! Default settings are present.

I have tried this short of removing the Pro Controller charging cable from the console, which I will certainly try, but I have no idea why that would cause an issue.

Occasionaly I plug HDD into top USB port by mistake. I get the large distorted lettering like your image shows. This is why I suggested keeping USB slots free from interference. Your SD could be corrupted also. Are you able to use other apps or emulators?

Everything else on the SD card works fine, so while I will not completely rule out corruption, I don't think it is the issue. I didn't get a chance to try the program without the charging cable plugged in yet, so I will have to try that tonight.

Update: I unplugged the USB cord and it still does the same thing. I tried to change the game partition in the settings and it won't let me. Clicking CoverFlow Settings causes a DSI exception. I really don't know what to do at this point.

Hi all. When attempting to launch a gamecube game (nintendont) via WFL, this screen appears for a couple of seconds and then I get sent back to the health and safety screen. It may be hard to read but it mentions IOS58 and AHB access. Any help? Thanks

you most likely don't have IOS58 installed on your wii.
run syscheck and post results here.

if you do have IOS58 then how are you loading wiiflow lite? because it's not disabling AHBPROT and should be.

I’m loading WFL via system mnu (channel forwarder). I can flawlessly use nintendont via HBC or it’s own channel forwarder. I’m pretty sure CFG usb loader mod and USB loader GX can’t run my gc games either. I’ll add a syscheck later today.

not sure about cfg loader and usb loader gx. but a while back i uploaded wiiflow and wiiflow lite forwarders on wiiflowiki 4 website and they didn't properly disable AHBProt. but I have since fixed those and re uploaded them. they should all be working properly now.

where did you get your forwarder for wiiflow? and when?

I installed it just yesterday. I got it from

(2nd one down) so yeah it’s pretty old. I didn’t realize the forwarder had anything to do with it. Are you allowed to post the link to the forwarder you mentioned here, or can I just run the channel installer and it will work?

is anybody using @Wiimpathy 's mame plus cores as plugin in wiiflow?
What magic numbers are you using?
I'm going to do some arcade covers for the new games that are now playable with this version.
There are too many good games that deserves it!

Captain America and the Avengers
Spiderman
Liquid Kids
Hammerin' Harry
SD Gundam Psycho Salamander

...to name a few

the lastest version includes plugins to use for wiiflow
you can add the magic numbers to platform.ini if you want the game info

How do the files at plugins_data work? What are the contents of the .ini files and where does the info in the .xml files get displayed?

Edit: I asked because I was not getting rom names in Wiiflow, but that was because the plugin magic numbers at platform.ini did not match those of my .ini files at /wiiflow/plugins. I would still like to know how to customize a given platform (say, ARCADE.ini), and therefore, also know what its contents are supposed to be.

Edit 2: Weird. I was getting rom names from the database for Neo Geo, but after adding their covers I do not anymore (WiiFlow 5.3.0 beta 6).

Edit 3: In @Wiimpathy's post describing what the .ini files are, he explains that each line is the rom name, followed by an id for the game, then followed by CRC values. However, say 2020bb.zip. This are the CRC32 values I get from files contained in the zip that I have:

4F5E19BD 030-c1.c1
D6314BF0 030-c2.c2
47FDDFEE 030-c3.c3
780D1C4E 030-c4.c4
4CF466EC 030-m1.m1
D396C9CB 030-p1.p1
7015B8FC 030-s1.s1
D4CA364E 030-v1.v1
54994455 030-v2.v2

Yet this is its line in NEOGEO.ini:

2020bb=37561A|F84AE379|493C034C|A180DB80|21A9D59A|600E756F|66954A6E|BEFD7656|948FAD94|9AEA4B02|A7EE2B42|F5B93D09|FD9E4337|15DEFAEC|ECCF5190|9579C0BA|25FDCDD2|6D1D0C10|A180DB80|17A4448D|3213457A|701AD7B6|C9DE3D2A|50F77036|9871BB8A|E7CD0DEC|49C9262D|D31C8AFB|80B65975|9B56D8F6|C21B6F39|EB3947D9|CBBAF8ED|004B3B17|A2D084E4|AEC586F9|22D7ECED|78AEAADD|B576D281|

None of my CRC values are in that line and nevertheless WiiFlow matches the rom and displays the game info from the .xml file. How come?

The files in plugins_data folder are platform.ini and a folder for each platform listed in platform.ini.

each platform folder contains a ini and a xml.

the ini is a list of each game using a short name title without all the[] and () markings. after the = sign the first 6 digits is a game ID much like wii and gc games. after that is all the CRC's and/or serials known for that game.
the ini file is used to get that game ID to be used in the xml.

the xml file is the database file that contains all the info on all the games. the game ID is used to find that games info.

the plugins_data folder with the platform.ini, and all the platform ini's and xml's are used in wiiflow 5 mainly just for the game info menu. so when you select a game, before you play it you can press '+' button on wiimote and it will go to the game info menu and display this game info and snapshots and disk/cart pics.

currently none of it is used to convert arcade rom zip names to proper titles. that is done via custom_titles.ini in wiiflow/settings folder. you have to make it yourself or there is a good one in Abz's masterpiece pack for wiiflow 4.

I might add the ability to use the xml's in plugins_data folder if i get some free time.

@fledge68, I must have edited my post for the 3rd time while you were writing. My apologies. Can you check what I say about the inconsistency between my CRC and the ones in the ini, and WiiFlow nevertheless matching the rom?

I thought that the release notes of 5.3.0 beta 5 regarding those meant it was now used for the name in coverflow too,
WiiFlow 5 beta 5 download - https://www.mediafire.com/file/qcdn3pbde6kpqhd/wf5beta5_boot.dol/file

changes:
[…]
- now platform ini is loaded on wiiflow start. instead of constantly loading and unloading it. platform ini is now used for gameinfo, coverflows, blank cover titles, and more.

At any rate, I would have sworn that I did see titles, not rom names, for Neo Geo roms, say Windjammers instead of wjammers, when browsing through titles (i.e. not in the game info page) before adding the covers. Am I crazy?

Arcade games are a special case for game info. It doesn't use the crc at all. The roms names are consistent else they wouldn't work in fba/mame.
What are you trying to edit precisely? If that's only the names displayed in coverflow it has nothing to do with the database. Only custom_titles.ini can be used.

If you modify the xml, you must delete the corresponding gametdb_offsets.bin and let WiiFlow re-create it.

the crc's in the ini are not every file in the zip. the crc listed is the entire zip and there's multiple crc because there might be rom zips with different crc value. so multiple ones listed helps to cover all of them.
but for arcade game roms each rom has its own definitive filename. the crc are not used. the code uses the filename.

as for titles. it's possible at one time you had abz's custom_titles.ini and wiiflow used it to create the cached list. then you for some reason deleted or lost custom titles ini and when you did a reload cache because of the new covers it changed all the titles back to the zip file name.
