But the maximum file size is 4gb and the maximum partition size is 32gb. If I want to use all 256gb for games how will this work?
I tried to put in my Sd card in my 4.0.1 switch to use the browserhack, but I get the following message "a system update is required to use the microsdxc memory card". What do I do to solve this issue? I have read that I can format to fat32 but I will be using this SD card for emunand and will be installing switch games. My understanding is that files cannot be over 60gb with this file format. What do I do to resolve this issue? I asked this question on another thread but I feel like this is going to be a bit more complex. How can games fit on a fat 32 if the maximum file size is 4gb and the maximum partition size is 32gb? I want to take advantage of my 256gb sd card to fill in as many games as possible. What options do I have here? Please no trolling as I am really trying to get my switch hacked.
Posted in your other post but here you go. Actually if your gonna be using EmuMMC then you will have to use an app that can partition as well. I used Aomei Partition Assistant “free version” it will do both partitioning and formatting of both SD and EmuMMC partitions in fat32. There are other apps that will work too. I just had a hell of a time getting windows 7 or 10 work.Use GUIformat, google for it or get it here on gbatemp. It will let you format the entire SD in fat32. No need for exfat. When installing files larger than the 4gbs use tinfoil over usb.
You can do what Draxzelex mentioned or you can use SplitNSP to install NSPs bigger than 4gb. I would recommend you to use FAT32 and the mentioned ways to install NSP files. But the maximum file size is 4gb and the maximum partition size is 32gb. If you're on 4.1.0, you should be able to check if it's patched by using Hekate with the warmboot exploit. You could also check the spreadsheet for more specific serial numbers to see the likelihood of it being patched or not.
New games and game updates will eventually require newer system versions like 8.1.0 (if they don't already). There is no reason not to update.I am currently on 8.0.1 (AMS 0.9.2) . Is it safe to Update to 8.1.0 (AMS 0.9.2) through the Manual Updating App? Is there any Benefit to Updating?
Any chance you could point me into right direction. I tried to search for Hekate with warmboot but all I find is discussions and I zone out at some point (I have attention span of a gold fish) from going back and forth about things I have NO idea what they mean. Is there any complete step-by-step anywhere (with tools required and even better links)?
I've posted a link to an easy-to-follow guide numerous times in response to your posts, but you ignored it.Honestly it's been a shit show for me to figure this stuff out. I ended up ordering a USB-C cable i didn't even need and people get pissed on here when you ask questions. I wish we just had an easy to follow guide. Every time a new console hack comes out I have to either deal with people calling me an idiot, or read the forum for hours. It turns out that anybody can run these hacks and people calling others idiots are really the idiots themselves for not realizing that if the information was easy to follow everyone would be able to do it without asking questions.
Where in the guide does it tell you how to partition an emunand? Another user told me I need to use ASOS partitioner on my computer.I've posted a link to an easy-to-follow guide numerous times in response to your posts, but you ignored it.
I just followed this when I Updated to 8.0.1 (and now looking into going to 8.1.0 )Hi All,
Running SX OS.
A question on using ChoiDuJourNX to update to FW 8.1.0.
I used Choidujour when I first set up my switch to update to FW 8.0.1.
At the time, I created a folder titled "Firmware" on the root that contained all the .nca files for the update.
Now that I am again updating to the latest firmware, do I delete all the existing .nca files in the "Firmware" folder on the MicroSD, and replace them with the new .nca files from the 8.1.0 firmware update??
And then, boot up SX OS, and update through Choidujour?
I am not sure if I delete my current .nca files from FW 8.0.1 prior to updating to 8.1.0 if that will mess anything up.
Thank you kindly.

Yes. If you are going to Update, then actually, Delete everything in the "Firmware' Folder, then Copy over the 8.1.0 Files. Just in case there are Items that do not get DeletedThank - the very last point on this guide states:
"You can now delete the /firmware folder on your SD card."
I suppose that answers my question -
Yes, I can delete the .nca files from 8.0.1 that are still sitting in the /firmware folder on my SD Card, and replace them with the .nca from 8.1.0.
You agree?
Hi,
I am noob, gbatemp is my paradise so I am in the right place
I have my switch for few days now.
It's running on 4.1.0. I followed this guider : https://switch.homebrew.guide/hacking/caffeine/forewarning
So I am using Hekate 5.0.0 and Cafeine/Atmosphere.
I have just installed ChoiDuJourNX.
This is where I am (I have not yet installed/tried any game, etc.).
Now, my questions ...
1. If I understand correctly, ChoiDuJourNX let me choose the firmware version I can use to be launched on my Switch. So I have for example to download/install the firmware v 7.0 and then choose to reboot on this version from ChoiDuJourNX. So, if I need to boot on another version, I have to launch again ChoiDuJourNX, then choose another firmware and reboot. Is it correct ?
2. How can I boot on my CFW via Atmosphere ? I have read that I have to tap on the "R" key while I press "Power" button but nothing happens when I do that.
3. If I understand correctly, AutoRCM is disabled (and I dont have to enable it otherwise the evil will pop from my switch). So if I am correct, I have to boot via Hekate and choose emuNand or EmuMMC but never "sysnand". Right ? Can I "remove" the "sysnand" option to be sure that I will not make a mistake ?
4. Last question. I have an official game card (Mario Kart) that was indicating that my switch needed to be updated. If I want to play to this game, the solution will be to execute ChoiDuJourNX, then choose "firmware 8.0" for example and insert the game card and start to play ?
Thanks a lot community !
Kosmos offers a way to boot Atmosphere with Hekate so you do not have to use Fusee for Atmosphere. And to switch, you can use the reboot to payload feature to reboot into Hekate and boot into your setup of choice.
- Yes and tes
- You have to use Caffeine to boot into Atmosphere
- It is up to you. While you don't have to remove the sysNAND option, there may be a time where you need to boot into CFW for sysNAND
- The game will most likely also ask for a game update which you can download from the Internet in .NSP format and install with your title manager of choice. Personally I recommend Adubbz Tinfoil for installing any .NSP files
Hello every one
I was wondering if there is a way for me to know if my switch supports exFat format, I can't remember if i have donne the update or not...
Also i want to make an emummc on partition with atmosphère. Currently I have an emummc on sd files but it is very slow, does it mean that I will have to reinstall all my nsp and that i should make a backup of all of my game saves with checkpoint if I dont want to lose them?
Thanks in advance
Is it possible to install a NSP via lithium with a USB C thumbstick on a undocked switch? I've placed the nsp files on the usb and its not showing up in lithium. I've searched the forums but can only find info on installing via a docked switch or from pc with a usb cable. on firmware 7.0.1 reinx
