So a hidden partition is the best way to run emunand if you want the benefits of modding and also to play online.
Okay, I understand this - but could somebody explain exactly what is involved?

How do I set up a hidden partition, where does it go?
At what point in the process do I need to do it? I've only just flashed a test payload via fusee, where do I go from here if I want a hidden emuNAND partition as well as a clean sysNAND?

EDIT: And does my SD card need to be formatted in a specific way?
I just really don't want to mess this up.

@Hayato213

Sorry to highlight, but you've helped me out before.

Game are stored in the Nintendo folder but you can delete them from the system data management, you can either delete the games you don't want or get a larger card, by default you can delete them from the home menu.
I already deleted them from home menu but nothing happened, it's like the switch doesn't know where the games are. I will look into Nintendo folder. My last resort will be format the sd card and start from zero. Thanks.

If you deleted them from the home menu they are gone , only tickets are left behind.

I wanted to install lakka on the switch. Currently I have the latest atmosphere and have been using fusee for the payload. Looking at how to install lakka it says I need to boot using hekate, will atmosphere boot with that or do I just keep booting atmosphere with fusee and when I want lakka use hekate? Also is there an easy way to switch between the two or do I have to reboot the switch everytime?

Base on your question, first thing it depends if you can use the fusee gelee exploit or not, if you can you can create a emunand to play all your homebrew and play your other game online, if it is patched your option is only emunand, can go above 4.1.0 if you have a patched unit. Hidden partition are hidden away as an unallocated partition where the rest of the sd card is partition into another partition, file on sd is the other option where the emunand is store as a file format on the sd card, if your card get corrupted it is possible to lose the whole emunand. I don't have a lot of experience with Atmosphere emunand but base on what I had seen people had recommend using hidden partition as file on sd card seem slow.

If you want to have a clean nand to go online it is recommended to setup an emummc via hekate, don't have a lot of experience with setting up emummc as I don't use one, I only have one system running on emunand that is running SX OS emunand, I was thinking moving on to sysnand, as all my modded switches I dont plan to play online, you would need to have a clean nand to create an emummc partition to play all your homebrew stuff on the emunand, and all your online stuffs on sysnand. But keep it in mind Atmosphere emunand is still experimental.

With AutoRCM, does the Switch go into RCM any time something is plugged on the USB-C port or just a PC with TegraRCMGUI on?
I feel like I'm constantly accidentally turning my Switch on RCM without noticing.

AutoRCM always goes into RCM mode when it is powered from being completely off and from restarting from Horizon OS.

Hi,

I am noob, gbatemp is my paradise so I am in the right place :)

I have my switch for few days now.
It's running on 4.1.0. I followed this guider : https://switch.homebrew.guide/hacking/caffeine/forewarning
So I am using Hekate 5.0.0 and Cafeine/Atmosphere.
I have just installed ChoiDuJourNX.

This is where I am (I have not yet installed/tried any game, etc.).

Now, my questions ... :D

1. If I understand correctly, ChoiDuJourNX let me choose the firmware version I can use to be launched on my Switch. So I have for example to download/install the firmware v 7.0 and then choose to reboot on this version from ChoiDuJourNX. So, if I need to boot on another version, I have to launch again ChoiDuJourNX, then choose another firmware and reboot. Is it correct ?

2. How can I boot on my CFW via Atmosphere ? I have read that I have to tap on the "R" key while I press "Power" button but nothing happens when I do that.

3. If I understand correctly, AutoRCM is disabled (and I dont have to enable it otherwise the evil will pop from my switch). So if I am correct, I have to boot via Hekate and choose emuNand or EmuMMC but never "sysnand". Right ? Can I "remove" the "sysnand" option to be sure that I will not make a mistake ?

4. Last question. I have an official game card (Mario Kart) that was indicating that my switch needed to be updated. If I want to play to this game, the solution will be to execute ChoiDuJourNX, then choose "firmware 8.0" for example and insert the game card and start to play ?

Thanks a lot community ! :)

Hello guys I have a question, I want to buy the bundle from Pokemon Let's go Pikachu (the pikachu version) but I don't find the firmware from this console, as far as I know this is a patched console and it has the 4.1.0 firmware, if this is correct, can I still run CFW using Caffeine?

First of all, does anyone know what is the firmware for the bundle Pokemon let's go Pikachu version?
can I run Caffine to run CFW in this model? (wololo.net/2019/06/26/hacking-news-patched-nintendo-switch-systems-on-fw-4-1-0-can-now-run-cfw-and-ps3hen-2-3-0-released-with-faster-exploit-and-fixes/)

what do you recommend me get a not patched switch or at this point it doesnt matter?

Hi guys,

I'm a long time reader of the site (since the Wii Scene days) but just decided to create an account to get some doubts resolved.

I recently purchased an SX Pro and did the full setup: backup Sysnand, created Emunand & using 90DNS & airplane mode at all times. I've started porting games over to Emunand but have a few questions:

1) If I install a game (xci or nsp), do I need to delete it before booting up OFW? I've been doing this out of precaution but I'm not sure if it's necessary to avoid a ban.

2) Are saves shared between Sysnand and Emunand? In case they aren't, is there a safe way to migrate the Emunand saves to Sysnand or will that cause a ban?

3) I've read that it's recommended to use xci over nsp, but some eShop games are only available in nsp. Also updates and DLC are nsp only. Should I avoid installing those altogether?

4) SX OS offers the option to play xci games directly or to install them first. What's the safest method to avoid a ban?

5) Is it more risk free to use Airplane mode than 90DNS in Emunand? Being able to connect to the internet makes some of the processes easier so I'd rather use 90DNS only if they're the same.

Thank you in advance :)!

I tried to put in my Sd card in my 4.0.1 switch to use the browserhack, but I get the following message "a system update is required to use the microsdxc memory card". What do I do to solve this issue? I have read that I can format to fat32 but I will be using this SD card for emunand and will be installing switch games. My understanding is that files cannot be over 60gb with this file format. What do I do to resolve this issue?

Kosmos offers a way to boot Atmosphere with Hekate so you do not have to use Fusee for Atmosphere. And to switch, you can use the reboot to payload feature to reboot into Hekate and boot into your setup of choice.

  1. Yes and tes
  2. You have to use Caffeine to boot into Atmosphere
  3. It is up to you. While you don't have to remove the sysNAND option, there may be a time where you need to boot into CFW for sysNAND
  4. The game will most likely also ask for a game update which you can download from the Internet in .NSP format and install with your title manager of choice. Personally I recommend Adubbz Tinfoil for installing any .NSP files

Why do you want to buy the bundle? An unpatched unit is so much more useful than a patched console. Not only that but they are cheaper as well. If you're insistent on buying the bundle, it needs to be on firmware 4.1 or lower since that is what Deja Vu currently supports and the only way to find that information would be to look here

  1. If you are using emuNAND, you do not need to delete anything. Most people use emuNAND for separating CFW and homebrew from sysNAND. Meaning you stay offline with CFW in emuNAND and go online in OFW with sysNAND.
  2. While emuNAND starts out as a copy of your sysNAND, after that they are completely separate. The only way to transfer save data between the two involves using homebrew which is a ban risk
  3. Whatever you read is highly misinformed. Both .XCI and .NSP files have their own advantages. For example, .NSP files load much faster than .XCI files and take up less space. The only advantage of .XCI files is that they do not need to be installed.
  4. Read point #1
  5. Just do not have any Wi-Fi settings in emuNAND. You cannot connect to the Internet without Wi-Fi settings.

You can use emuNAND and install games larger than 4 GB with a FAT32 SD card.

But the maximum file size is 4gb and the maximum partition size is 32gb. If I want to use all 256gb for games how will this work?

You do not need exFAT for installing games. You only think you need exFAT because you think you have to put the game on the SD card to install it. But you can install it without putting it on the SD card with network or USB install.
