Square Enix has trademarked Collection of Mana in Europe

sdfsdfsdsdfsdf.png

If a recent trademark is to be believed, Square Enix appears to be bringing the Seiken Densetsu Collection to the west. Released back in 2017 for the Nintendo Switch in Japan, the Seiken Densetsu Collection is a compilation of three titles from the Mana series, as it is known in English territories: Final Fantasy Adventure, Secret of Mana, and the never-localized Seiken Densetsu 3. On May 31st, Square Enix registered a trademark in Europe for a video game under the name of Collection of Mana, which hints at the games possibly making their way westward. If this is true, then we'll likely see an announcement at Square's E3 press conference.

The possibility of a localized Seiken Densetsu 3 after so long has definitely piqued my interest. I'm not the biggest fan of the Mana series (aside from Sword of Mana, as absolutely jank as it was), but I'm way into the idea of long passed titles getting modern localizations. But is this collection on par with what Retroarch currently offers with runahead, or does it have all the input lags? I might be curious enough to test and see, actually.

I have just bought Secret of Mana for PS4. I loved it on Snes. I also played Seiken Densetsu 3 on emulator with english patch.
And I will be happy to buy and possibly play the collection.

Is it bad that I only played secret of mana and not the other two games mentioned here? :ninja:

How is the battle system in the third game? One of the things i found frustrating about it was the combat feeling too cheap.

It's better. But it gets monotonous having to recast buffs constantly. I've always thought the best feature of this series is the music.

Well, without a doubt it is! :creep:

But still, I didn't like how the player needed to wait for the percent thing to reach 100, and the enemies can constantly hit you until you die which just felt unfair.

I have extreme doubts that this means localization of the third title. I have a feeling this will more likely be the Adventure of Mana and Secret of Mana remakes bundled for all platforms. Maybe including the original versions of each since that'd be trivial to do.

It won't, ia just the first three games. Mostly I want to see how the remake of a Gameboy game into HD works.

Isn't youSeiken Densetsu 3 only a 2 player game? Believe there's a Rom hack to make it a 3-player game, Foggy memory.

Is it bad that I haven't played Secret of Mana?

I have played Final Fantasy Adventure several times - I still have my original GameBoy version complete with map (under the title Mystic Quest, as it was called in the UK) - and I've played both the GBA remake (Sword of Mana) and mobile/Vita remake (Adventures of Mana).

But I never got around to Secret of Mana - I first tried playing it on PC on a SNES emulator and that didn't feel right, but now I have a Raspberry Pi with RetroPie and one of those 8Bitdo wireless SNES pads and I keep meaning to play it with that but haven't got around to it. And then the remake came out and now I'm not sure whether I should play that or just stick to the original (or both). If this collection makes it to the Switch, it will be a big decision made for me!

The game has already been remade three times, most recently for mobile and Vita, but if this is the same collection as the Japan release it won't be a remake, it will be a port, and it looks like this -

Not really super interested in Final Fantasy Adventure and I already have SoM, but if the Collection has an official localization of SD3 in it, I'll buy it just for that.
