Nintendo unveils Mario Odyssey & Breath of the Wild Labo VR compatibility

vr-kit-software-compat-trailer.jpg

With Nintendo's new Labo kit drawing closer, Nintendo has unveiled some interesting new content. Today, it was announced that Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild are to receive updates making them compatible with their new VR accessory. The update to Super Mario Odyssey lets you play three new 'mini-missions' in VR, whilst the Zelda update seemingly allows you to play the whole game using the goggles. These updates will arrive on the 25th of April, two weeks after the release of the Labo VR kit.

Absolutely no reason for you to think that. Review units of Labo VR are out, the cart doesn't include a new firmware.
Well review units is one thing compared to retail and that does not include the special updates to zelda.

Either way retail 8.0 is on its way and will come out this sometime this month as 8.0.0-1 was out a month ago and 8.0.0-4 was released last week so most likely if nothing drops this monday (which is a slim chance) it will drop by the end of the month.

More dumb as fuck stuff from you. Review units are retail boxed copies of the kit. With a retail game card inside. The update for Mario and Zelda are not launching the same day as the VR kit, those launch on the 25th. They are just normal game updates.

Don't make claims that you can't backup with evidence. Stop leaking from the dev center.

But they'd need a more powerful system for that to go well... almost like a hardware revision.

With the rumors of a ''Switch Pro'' coming, I would not be surprised if Labo VR is an indication that a revision of the Switch should be near, maybe this new switch can run VR Mode better?

Oh HELL yeah! I'd be all over a Nintendo Labo Pokemon Snap VR! Would be amazing to hear if Nintendo had something like this in the works.

I really think that Pokémon Snap for Labo VR is something totally possible, it is a simple and fun game at the same time, just grab the 3DS Pokémon models and remaster the Nintendo 64 scenarios in HD.

Gonna quote another one of your obviously bullshit claims to keep a record of them. Also, why the sudden loss in confidence in your previous claim?
There is good chance for all this VR stuff to working nicely, big 'N' will roll out another 'major' firmware update. -- My guess we will see 8.0 roll out on April 8th, few days before the first VR kits come out on the 11th.
Suddenly going to go a little vaguer now? I am not going to let you off to hook just because you can make a vague claim. Much like 7.0, your vague claim was always going to be "right," but you literally only got two the languages included and completely made up the rest of the claims. I am not letting you off the hook because I know damn well that you are just going to make something up for 8.0, just like you did with literally every update for the Switch.

Exactly! I don't mean to derail the thread but damn, that'd be way better application of the Labo VR than these recently announced ones. Surely it'd be minimal work for maximum fan happiness. I can imagine it'd be quite addictive.

Don't buy one of those thinking that it will be compatible with VR, because it is not.

However I do expect to see an unofficial headset that is compatible, about the same size as the labo vr but with a psvr style head strap.

wait one chinese make a cheap with focal adjustment, if zelda is of first person ^^

The concept of BOTW in VR is amazing. I hope the switch emulation can do something with it so we can use a real VR headset at a real FPS.

You can bash Nintendo all you want for this stupid pointless shit but I find it adorable. It's always like a 6 year old trying to copy something they saw their parent do. Nintendo just runs up to Papa Microsoft and Mama Sony with their VR headsets on. Nintendo just starts jumping up and down holding a switch scotch taped to some cardboard yelling they made VR too.

Fringe theory, the new beefier switch revision will have better VR play as one of its defining features

Think that's pretty obvious, the revision should have more power, and therefore output the same games already available at more fluid framerates and higher resolutions. This would obviously translate to a better VR experience as well.

persona 3 switch has you shoot yourself in the head with a nintendo labo pistol. heard it here first
The new Luigi's Mansion is going to bring back everyone's favorite E. Gad telecomms device, the "Dual Scream," in Labo form. A DS for the Switch. It'll have the same durability as the DS models¹ currently on the market.²

This would obviously translate to a better VR experience as well.

If it's using asynchronous re-projection then the tracking fluidity may remain the same, just with fewer geometry errors.

The overall experience may be improved more than VR.

So many people on here predicted lab vr would fail and its a huge success already, and all the reviews are glowing.

Its the same type of strategy as what happened with the wii, if you are comparing it to Vive or something you are missing the point big time.

Labo VR has leaked. Surprise, surprise, it isn't even built with the 7.X SDK (though includes the 7.X update on the cart).

Poor GaryOPA.

This is dumb Nintendo fanboy stuff and doesn’t belong on this site.
