All well and good, except getting games to actually WORK on Atmosphere is a painful process compared to SX-OS.
...and that's all that the majority care about.

Atmo:
- find and install patches
- convert XCI to NSP or locate NSP. Conversion may or may not work. Try multiple tools if it doesn't work first time.
- install NSP. Installation may or may not work. Try multiple installation tools if it doesn't work first time.

SX-OS:
- copy XCI to SD card
- play
Please don't be disingenuous.

Atmosphere:
- install NSP
- play

In addition, Atmosphere supports 7.0.x, and SX OS does not. Games will inevitably require 7.0.x.

Oh, you haven't been banned? Mods usually don't like it when you abuse their reporting system, in hypocritical ways no less.

Instead of following your steps, you could also just download the NSP file. You should also be careful with the precedent you're setting, since without 7.0.x support on SX OS, you're going to have to do a lot of extra steps to remove the master key encryption for new games.

The patches are in a thread on this website, so you could easily find them in under a minute.

You could just download nsp files instead of xci files. I know of a couple of dark sites that list both types on their sites, which is convenient for both SX and non-SX users.

SX-OS == Atmo on this point.
SX-OS == Atmo on this point. Once banned by Ninty for CFW, this point becomes equally superfluous.
Ok? But why would I pay for a CFW that does less for me than Atmosphere does. And I don’t know if you’ve heard but Atmosphere is generally considered as being fairly safe to use online if you don’t do stupid shit

Prove it, hunny.

We also know a good deal about certificate usage and what can plausibly happen if an XCI is played that doesn't have a unique certificate tied to that particular game, even if it's offline and the system is connected online at a later time.

So do my XCI's. Try again! :D
The only way that's possible is if you also legitimately purchased the games, which defeats the purpose of XCI files for a lot of people.

I purchase the game from Gamestop, pre-owned, rip it and its unique certificate, and then return it for full value. Its within their terms of use for purchase, and at max that means the same cert is only ever used twice which is obviously within Nintendo's margin of error.

Besides which, for a lot of people (see, I can make claims too!) the purpose of XCIs is to not have to carry carts around tbh.

You might want to add that to your list of XCI steps, honey. That makes Atmosphere seem a lot simpler in comparison, and it was already pretty simple.

Sure. Rip game. Play game. Rinse, repeat :D
I told you to be careful of what precedent you were setting with regard the number of steps one needs to follow. You should have learned to listen to me by now.

Atmosphere:
  1. Install NSP
  2. Play game
SX OS:
  1. Drive to store
  2. Buy game
  3. Drive home
  4. Rip XCI
  5. Drive to store
  6. Return game
  7. Drive home
  8. Put XCI onto SD card
  9. Play game
