Unless TX say, "Hey we had our bite of the cherry, and in thanks for your support, we give you our code."

    Would be good, but doubtful

TX has illegals parts in their code that ReSwitched would never touch or be associated with, so never really gonna happen and couldn't/wouldn't. Unless TX just like, I dunno, just released their source like matty says.

But then ReSwitched would rip out the illegal parts any way.

I dunno if these sorts of vague teases actually help the situation. Seems like it just exasperates both sides, which is sort of what the mod posts of TX's forums ended up doing too with the "soon" teases, as can be seen here.

Of course, the whole idea of "all of these features take time" was already torn down so whatever the delay was/is, might be more serious.

That is YOUR situation and probably the same for a lot of the SX OS haters.. children given the switch as a gift, who then want free games for the life of the console. Oh and the games need to happen NOW as soon as they're released, otherwise I'll be behind all my friends and I don't want to play ''old'' games or they'll think I'm lame (yeah 90s hacker leet speak bois).

Guess what? the internet you're using cost (not you) money, the computer you're using cost (not you) money, the hard drive you're downloading and storing your games on cost (not you) money, the SD card in the Switch cost (not you) money. It goes on and on..

YOU cannot see the price of $30 as reasonable or justify the cost because you have no appreciation of the value of money and time.

For most adults $30 is 1 or 2 hours works, which is either a) a trifle, or b) is considered to be less time fiddling around with homebrew CFW solutions - ESPECIALLY since when SX OS was released in June 2018 the freeware CFW was not a simple ''plug and play'' solution, so those that wanted it to ''just work'' as well as not spend time reading, then possibly debugging a non working system thought the $30 was well worth it.

Frankly with the second example, if you're buying a Switch and then not having enough for Switch Online then that is a kid's problem, not an adult's problem. As adults if we have to go without a service because it might be stretching the bank, then we go without.

    Hell
If Gateway released the source code for SXOS ReSwitched wouldn't use any of it, even the legal parts (all of it would be useless to them)

Well, ya, obviously they'd not really have a reason to even use anything since most of it was already made by Scires to begin with. :P

It was more a stupid hypothetical.

I'm one of those "SX haters" and that's certainly not my situation (I bought my system around launch and I've legitimately bought all 30-ish games I have. Fuck piracy)

Why on earth would I buy a CFW for $30 that's missing many features that appeal to me when Atmosphere which is free has all of those features

TomGERs SDfiles/Kosmos was a thing before SXOS released and was just as simple to use then as it is now (literally just copy the shit to the SD card and run hekate)...

If you're only running homebrew - guess what, you didn't need to buy SX OS at all.. you can run homebrew with no licence - ie: for free.

Hmm looking back at all the help me requests and people having trouble with it, no it doesn't appear to be as easy as you're implying.

It *HAS* gotten a lot better so now almost any noob can write an image to SD card, copy NSP files to the SD card and run games (though there are still lots of help requests for cannot run NSP / where are the patches.. even to today).

So I'm curious, what features of Atmosphere do you want / appeal to you since you're not using backups? I'm guessing game saves? They'll work for free under SX OS as well.

Hmm, so if Nintendo release 7.0.2 today then it's all good because it's only been 0 days since TX didn't support the latest FW?

    WTAF?

also there's been so much shit thrown around I think even I've missed some points.

So far as I know SX OS DOES work with 7.0.1 - but it does not support emuNAND at 7.0.1, it only supports emuNAND at 6.2 - correct?

Stock 7.0.1 sysnand and 6.2 emunand work but sx does not work with 7.+ yet. Sysnand or emunand.

You can't use any SXOS CFW features while 7.01 is booted right now. You can boot a 6.2 SXOS emunand install while your real nand has 7.01 on it though.

AFAIK it will ONLY work on 7.0.1 sysNAND with 6.2 emuNAND. If you don't have a 6.2 emuNAND then you can't use SXOS on 7.0.1 at all.

ahh ok thanks all.. since I'm only on 6.2 sysNAND I couldn't check - but from what I was reading SX OS was working in 7.0.1 - but all it supports in 7.0.1 is booting emuNAND. None of the other features work.. yeah as said, so much FUD even I was losing sight of what ''might'' and ''might not'' work.

Reboot to payload, kip loading, 7.X support, anti brick protections (CAL0 is read only), better homebrew support, creport, better layered fs (per title, more configuration,...), pretty fatal sysmodule, ...

Existing SX Customer, just play whatever you can on firmware 6.2

New SX Customer , don’t buy until SX TEAM release support for firmware 7.x.

so because I have SX OS - what exactly does kip loading allow?

and how is the homebrew / layered fs support better?

I would love to see a detailed list for both CFWs giving specifics, with no opinions, slurs etc. on the opposite CFW. Facts, it's what most of us want.

It's the because we don't have those features, we aren't aware of what they actually do (same goes the other way around).

Reboot to payload would save having to carry my jig and dongle in my Switch bag, but then again I've only had to use them twice to reload the CFW after system crashes while a game was suspended and the switch put into hibernation mode.
7.x would be good for longevity of being able to use CFW
Brick protection would be good, but I think that might be a feature of SX OS also? Would need to look back through release notes.

    Better homebrew support - ?
Creport - Reimplementation of Nintendo’s crash report system. Dumps all error logs to the SD card instead of saving them to the NAND and sending them to Nintendo. * would be useful, but with emuNAND not needed.
    better layered FS - ?
    pretty fatal sysmodule - ?

google and reading time. looking at the Atmos github at the moment as figure it should all be documented there.
