I have a few questions, how would this work? What would deadlines be like, and are the games that would be reviewed provided?

Is this why the temp is now flooded daily and constantly with full screen ads? To pay the staff? I 100% against social-forums/communication-boards and members making a profit. Especially when it comes at expensive of it’s members experience!
lmao, calm down. This isn't a paid position or related to the ads at all. It's an offer for those that love the site to contribute by writing reviews and providing them with the free game codes to do so. Both parties benefit: GBAtemp gets review coverage of the latest games, and the reviewer gets to play games and get the perks that come with being staff on the forum.

Does GBAtemp make money by having more contributors?
It's so we can keep up with the games provided by publishers and devs, and work towards the site being further recognized as a professional review/news site on the side. It's not for monetary reasons.

Magazine Staff users benefit from their role on the site, gaining certain privileges, such as:
  • Receiving games to review for free, sometimes even weeks before official release.
Deadlines vary from game to game; some have embargo, and it's quite important that the writers hit that. For game codes that we get day-of release, then you usually have 2 weeks max to play the game and write a review for it.

I like how, in the same thread, there was both a complaint that the position didn't pay and an outrage that it does.
It doesn't, by the by, but "I 100% amused."

Out of curiosity, would GBATemp reviewers ever have the opportunity to do PC VR (Rift/Vive) reviews in the future?
I've been dumping a lot of my time into the Rift lately and have been having a blast with that thing.
Admittedly, I wish some games were longer as they do feel more like experiences but I can't deny that I got my money's worth of fun out of them.

We’ve received some PSVR titles in the past, but we don’t actively seek them out, as we don’t have many writers with a VR setup. It would be something I’d need to look into, before I say anything definitively, but I don’t see why not.

I must ask, how often do contributors need to write reviews? is it monthly, or bi-weekly at most? or does it depend at times?

EDIT#
I read the thing that chary posted (last thing from this post)and I that answers most of my questions, sorry for not reading that before posting

I want to apply, but I'm not that confident if I still have it. I had reviewed mainly PSV and PS4 contents in the past but I am not sure if I'm still able to, would love to try, can I make one and send it your way for evaluation? Even if its been a reviewed game?

As long as you want to give it a shot and it's your own experience/words, I doubt it matters whether the game has already been officially reviewed by the GBAtemp staff or not. One of the reviews I'm working on atm is of a game that falls into that same situation.

last question, is telegram required?
I don't have a personal phone number, so I wouldn't be able to make an account

if it's required it's understandable, just thought I should ask before applying

Go for it!

I'm about a fourth of it. Just a couple hours more.

There's a way to verify a Telegram account without a real telephone number, you can use one of the many free text apps and a generated telephone number, it's fairly Googlable. Alternatively just use someone else's number, it's only used for verification.

Google's phone number thingy actually requires an actual phone number, which renders it useless, Secure sites usually know that it's not your own personal number, and knows it's from a site or something. (I got my twitter account locked down twice due to this).
There's android emulators sure to use messaging apps, but trying that ran super slow on my computer.
There are probably other ways to squirm out of the phone verification, but none of them have worked for me.

I probably won't apply, but I still try to write more reviews. Plus there's probably more literate people than me that applied, so good luck to all of you : 3

the caligula effect review :

Worth buying : No

This is one of those games that are basically a movie and you need to keep pressing a button to watch the next dialogue or scene , after you get bored of 20 minutes of the scenes its finally the turn to start playing , and when you do ; its incredible boring .

But if you think you desagree , watch the first 20 minutes of gameplay and if you bare staying awake , enjoy :-)

Too bad I was too late to apply. I have a PS4, wrote some reviews long time ago but site's gone and I cannot sadly prove it.
One of the games was Martin Gothic For the PS1, review copy constantly locked after a scene so it was a bit tricky to get the Point.
If I'm still on the run I'd Like to give it a try, I tried to click on the links on the thread but it Said the link does not work

You need a minimum of 10 posts to be able to apply, seeing as the application form is sent to the staff via PM (and iirc, PMs are unlocked after that post count has been made). The application period lasts until the 20th, so you still have time to send it in.

Oh ok thanks! I made a bit of confusion reading the Basic rules... My fault, sorry! I'll give it a try, let's see what I can do! Thanks again!
