Anyone else getting “The software was closed because an error occurred." using this? I know it can happen if you run via album but I'm running via the installed RetroArch NSP.
Getting the same crash.

Latest atmosphere, latest hekate. Tried it as nsp and direct nro via homebrew launcher.

Can be reproduced with Fzero x.

Same deal, unfortunately.

I should've mentioned, it boots fine the first time. It only force closes after I changed the core option to dynarec and restart it. Then it crashes every time I try and load the core. I've checked the .cfg file and it still has mupen64plus-cpucore = "cached_interpreter" set.

If I move back to a previous nro, everything works fine again.

try deleting your cfg file and restart retroarch

did you install the core to a non standard location?
Most likely just a unsupported ROM.

Edit to clarify...
My enviroenment:
- RetroArch NSP
- Clean retroarch folder, nigthly Jan 06 19
- Horizon OS ver. 4.1.0
- Atmosphere 0.8.2

Mupen64 beta dynarec does not work. Games run if I edit the core config to user interpreter,
but then going to the core options when running a game and changing the cpu
to dynarec does nothing. If set to dynarec, opening a game causes the app to force close due to an error.

Which cores should I use for NES, SNES and GBA? I'm leaning Nestopia, Snes9x 2010 and mGBA. How well those each one perform?

Also, is there any guide on how to set up and use Retroarch?

I noticed that when switching games I’d get that error too if I didn’t reload the core each time.
Well I always get that error, I am not able to load any n64 game even with pre-loading core at the beginning... any hint ?

EDIT: problem solved; I had a microSD data corruption problem; reformatted and recopied everything, now it is working fine.

Amazing update!

Got it running, crashes every time on selecting rom unless loading retroarch using Homebrew takeover (load any game whilst holding 'r', sx os).

games look good but are still very laggy for me, could anybody suggest recommended setting amendments? ie threaded video/audio...etc.

Im on the standard retroarch settings for 1.7.5, no overclock either

thanks

Like it was said before, it WON'T WORK through the album applet because there is not enough RAM available. Either install the NSP or use title takeover (like you did). You need to also copy the settings from the included txt to the retroarch-core-options.cfg in the /retroarch/ folder and then set the aspect ratio to 4:3 in the core options (open the quick menu while in-game -> settings, needs a restart). Threaded video should be on I think (I have it on and I don't think Mupen will even run without it ).

Ok, thanks a lot for offering help!
I am doing something wrong here, how do I copy the settings from the included txt to the retroarch-core-options.cfg in the /retroarch/ folder?
I simply copied the text doc to retroarch and nothing changed. I know this is a dumb question but cant work it out through trial and error.

So far I have:

added new core to cores library
added roms to rom library
added the text file to retroarch folder
loaded via homebrew takeover

ps. i know i'm close and thats exciting, never had n64 as a kid :D
