i just messed with the overclock on SX OS 2.3 beta and now my switch crashes upon boot when using SX OS, i can still get to whatever is in Kosmos 11.0.1 (i keep it on my card as an alt cfw).

not sure how/why. i booted mario 64, set overclock to max. fiddled with some settings in retroarch, namely just frame buffer off and then crash, which happens i get it. reboot and i get 2168-0002 error when booting to sx os.

EDIT: my custom ResidentMenu.szs was corrupted. only in SX OS though.
Yeah my sd card got corrupted as well :/ Were you using exfat?

Do multi-bin psx games work? I read they aren't compatible with the core but I can't find psx games that aren't multi-bin. I have been looking for castlevania SOTN and tomb raider 2.

For me the multi-bin / tracks games work, but they have no background music only game sfx. I think the emulator has issues accessing the cdda tracks.

- SotN is theoretically multibin as well and works (afair 2 bins?)
- Tekken 3 is multibin as well, although it freezes, if you dont skip the ending credits fast enough (loading music bin and failing?)

So there is leeway. :) But almost all (+/-) PSX games with more than lets say 4 bins usually dont work - in some form or another.

This all seems to be related to certain bins not being fetched correctly, if there are too many of them. At least thats my guess. :)

I can't hit full speed either with video threaded on trying both regions. Is anyone able to get 30fps on a US oot rom or 20fps pal?
No one ever possibly could. As KHEOPS already correctly stated, max fps for Zelda OOT are

US (NTSC): 20
EU (PAL): 17

If you have issues running the game full speed, read this:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/retroarch-switch.492920/page-167#post-8408154

NTSC needs OC set to 1.7 to run fullspeed. PAL can get away with OC set to 1.5 to run almost fullspeed (most times less than a frame dropped).

With thread audio driver, Banjo don't run fullspeed, but with switch audio driver, 320x240, threaded video, and 1700OC runs very well (with frame drops, yes)

Now my problem are the black screen crashes (without white words), yesterday I miss 1 hour for for one of this crashew when I return to the Retroarch menu.

Pcsx rearmed
The problem comes from libnx ( m4mx, natinusala) They know the problem
Specific case of the switch

We are 3 with the same picodrive, and of the 3 people only one Mortal kombat 2 that works, Deduction?

FYI driver audio_thread still provides some improvement for (most(?)) PSX games. On 1.2 OC, the difference in Tekken 3 is 1 frame. With audio_thread the game drops 1 fps max, with audio it drops 2 at this OC setting.

But overall recommending audio_thread to newcomers maybe isnt worth it anymore - if it gives mixed results in mupen. In PCSX they most likely will just up the OC setting and be happy. :) (If they notice a 2 frame drop at all. :))

Either version difference (prerelease version > release version) or setting difference. Ask one of the guys for whome it works to upload a retroarch.cfg :) (its not bilinear filtering on/off, I've tried that - maybe something odd, like vsync? (Mine was off.) also - ask them if they are using the nsp version of RA (I'm not).. ;) )

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

In Zelda OOT (NTSC) driver audio switch_thread looses you about 0.2 frames - but ensures that there is less audio crackle in the town screen. ;)

Still - dont use audio switch_thread on N64 games I guess. :)

edit: Strike the last line and use audio_thread for Zelda_OOT (NTSC) as well, I just heard crackle in the Kokiro village theme and it broke my heart. No audio crackle ftw. :)

Request its retroarch config?
No need....

Do you seriously think that a different setting could fix the problem? I don't believe him, rather asked him for a screenshots of the game being used

yes exFAT and this one is not recovering. i left it on scan and repair all night and nothing. i don't even think i can format at this point easily. windows refuses to do anything with scanning/formatting the card. i backed up everything on it though.

I have said it many times I will say it again. I once doubted m4xw that exfat causes corruption. I reasoned there's no way I mean nintendo is allowing it on the platform they designed how could m4xw know more than nintendo? I had not had any problems using exfat up to that time (with serious playtime). Until it happened. Exfat corruption. Since then I ate my hat and apologized to m4xw and told him he was right. He basically said yes this I know. I laughed and switched to fat32.

Smooth sailing ever since.

So yeah, Virtual Jaguar perf is still shit even with 1.75 GHz OC ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It is between 25-30fps
Ok thanks for the report, it's not for now the possibility to play rayman jaguar, since on pcsx rearmed it doesn't work...
Rayman is therefore not playable on retroarch switch

Precision
2 cards sd 128go sandisk u1
1 for homebrew
1 for switch games
Fat32 for homebrew ok
But as far as switch nsp or xci games are concerned, I haven't had any corruption in exfat e this since June 2018 ( and 140 games played)

I shall test, btw Wolf3D Jaguar version has a nice'ich 40-45fps (without sound) so we may have luck with Rayman :)

Edit. Good news! Rayman for the Jaguar runs at 60fps :D

I created videos of Zelda OOT (NTSC, real 16:9 and noHUD patched) in three different render resolutions (bilinear filtering 3point, framebuffer deactivated, 1.7 OC, threaded video on, driver audio switch_thread) - this time with sound (direct capture) - so you can compare the audio crackle.

Sweetspot for switch docked is 520p (16:9 resolution in core settings), imho. So thats the video I'm starting with. :)

360p:

720p:

To find out how to get your Zelda OOT real 16:9 and noHUD patched, read page 164 of the Retroarch thread. ;)
(This time I am lazy and not linking it.. ;) )

Also I captured a short clip of Tekken 3 running full speed at 1.2 OC:

Well, great, you're the first to play rayman 60 fps on switch.
When you're ready to share the core I'll be there!
Good job :grog:

Notimp I don't really hear any audio problems in your video, I didn't put on headphones, just stereo speaker
Thank you because many people on youtube do not respect the work of video capture the time spent, and uploaded a video, they thank you with a thumb down

Filter, shader ,overlay
Personally after trying more than a hundred shaders and overlays, I just wanted scanline that fell just for the 720p
I found an overlay line.cfg it does the job perfectly for everything that is retrogaming, just 20% opacity or 30% depending on the taste, the higher your black level will clear up.

I don't know why, but on lcd without shader or scanline, I don't like the rendering at all, I play regularly on crt tv, that must be the reason

Tried multiple games :

- Dodonpachi (PSX) freezes during level loading, music doesn't work even with pre-converted EBOOT
- Croc (PSX) works perfectly, even without OC
- Sin & Punishment (N64) kinda works, it plays like crap on the first level but gets better after that
- Radiant Silvergun (Saturn) is uuuuuh.... Uuuuh, better than before with maximal OC ? (now it plays at like 30% the speed instead of 10)
