Hi, i just got recently banned by installed trimmed .xci with my switch.
I would like to know what i can/can't do of important on a switch.
But my main question is if i can update my switch while banned.
Error 2124-4007 while trying to play online/go to a eshop.
Error 2181-4008 while trying to update a game.
I don't know if i have errors in updating my system because i am in 6.0.1 and it doesn't give errors when i check.
Thanks, Vasco
NOTE- First hacked my switch on 22/10/18

You can't do just 1 thing. Play online games.
Every ban is a superban nowadays or will be one soon. Then you cannot do ANYTHING online-related to anything official. No game updates, no system updates, no eshop, no online gaming.
You'll have to acquire updates in nsp format from somewhere else from now on, and same for systemupdates. The latter you install with ChoiDujourNX.
Basically a minor inconvenience for pirating. Live with it.

Any games that require the usage of online servers are restricted when banned.
another thing, if u have logged with ur main account, u probably lost all ur purchases
Accounts are very rarely banned. He can check if its banned by logging onto their website. And if its not banned, you can salvage it by linking the account to another console.

When you use a Nintendo Switch to connect to Fortnite's servers, the console has to go through Nintendo's servers first because of the way the console is designed.
I've actually been thinking about this... shouldn't this be something that a CFW should be able to bypass?
i.e. the Switch "asking for permission" from Nintendo's servers if it can use the internet

I mean, you should still be able to play online games that aren't using Nintendo's servers if a CFW could bypass that step, it's not like the Fortnite servers check the Switch TLS cert if it is banned...

I'd really like to ask a scene/CFW dev how viable this idea is.

I dont think that will ever work. The gameservers' authentication (and your account on them) are linked to your online Nintendo account

Tbh I don't really play Fortnite so I have no idea how the online for it on the Switch works.

I'm not banned either so it's not really applicable to me. I'm just curious about the possibility from an academic standpoint.

From what I understand from your post though, it seems you say that the unique login/session used by the gameserver is taken from your online Nintendo account?

Well, I'm guessing it depends on the implementation then... if they are checking some value for Nintendo's signature using N's public key, or checking directly with Nintendo's servers serverside, then yes, it's not doable.

But if they're just taking some unique identifier (i.e. like a unique account ID/GUID/UUID), taken from the Nintendo account details, and not something that's signed/validated with N's servers, it might be something that could be faked by CFW even with just a randomly generated value.

Until they notice and put out a game update the prevents you.

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze

    Booo.

same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in

    it's dumb

    Maybe.

There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.

Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
