So unsure how accurate my title is there so I will give a, hopefully, brief explanation as to what I mean. Back when the Switch was cracked wide open and homebrewing finally took off due to a vulnerability with the Tegra, I remember hearing about a CFW called Atmosphere. A video I watched out of curiosity mentioned something along the lines of that CFW only remaining installed until the next reboot. From my limited understanding on how OS's work I assume that to mean it's only loaded into RAM and remains in RAM until then next time it's turned off an on again.
Fast Forward to now and with Nintendo's utter stupidity when it comes to how the user makes save backups (cloud only save back ups that delete after a certain threshold of time once a lackluster online membership runs out is the most arse-backwards bollocks idea I have ever heard off especially when it also prevents select titles from utilising it despite the competition doing it bloody right. Like, HOW!? How does someone just sit there and think that's a fantastic idea instead of doing what Microsoft and Sony do in regards to Cloud Saving because it fucking makes sense! Rant done) I want to homebrew my Switch in order to backup my save files locally in case something happens and I don't have NSO for a period of time so I'm going to be using Atmosphere because of the video I watched a while back under the assumption that I can reboot my device when done and I'm back to Official Firmware.
So as I may be entirely wrong about Atmosphere, and other CFW's for that matter, how does it actually work and can I revert to Official Firmware by just turning it off and on again?
