every day I regret getting an o3DS a little more...
Then you are in luck because this project is dead and been replaced with DSiMenu++
DSiMenu++ uses nds-bootloader, which works the same across all 3DS/2DS/DSi systems and has far better compatibility than this emulator ever had.

What is the point of this when 3DS can play NDS games anyway?

Why does this have 137 pages?
People were originally interested in this program because its goal was to allow you to play pirated totally legitimate DS games and homebrew on 3DS without an original game cart or a flashcart. However, it ran poorly and now we have better options to do that.

Still an absolutely stupid idea to begin with, to put it lightly.

Hard to understand how it has over a hundred pages.

People should have been asking about a program that would allow people to play NDS games without an original game cartridge or flash cart.. while at the same time not being as daft as trying to emulate what already runs natively.

People could afford a 3DS but not a NDS flashcart too? Absolutely, totally stupid.

Around the time this launched, people just wanted a means to play the games without a flashcart, and there was nothing like TWL Loader. Though when that was finally put out, it rendered this obsolete. It was purely a means to an end since nothing else was available at the time.

It's not a matter of price for some people. There is a higher barrier to entry for flashcarts for some people.
Buying a console is easy, you go on Amazon or to a store and buy it.
To buy a flashcart, you have to research the right ones that work, get another SD card, research reputable resellers that look like credit-card stealing scams, and other issues.
Now imagine that you are a kid and have to convince your parents to do all of this for you.

How about doing it for the sake of education?
If you're familiar with the codebase of a certain port or emulator, it's much easier to port to an other platform. Useful or not, this was pretty awesome back then.

Also, while the GBA runs GB games natively. Goomba / Goomba Color is quite useful these days.
