Nintendo Switch version of Steep has been cancelled

RCjOLsZ.png

When the Nintendo Switch was initially announced, multiple AAA games were revealed for the console, one of them being Ubisoft's snowboarding game Steep. However, no news had been announced since the Switch developers reveal video, leading to a fan inquiring about the status of the game on Twitter. The official Steep account replied, casually letting everyone know that the Nintendo Switch port of the game has been officially cancelled. Instead, a focus will be put on new content and updates for the existing PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One versions of the game. Steep originally launched on December 2, 2016, and the Switch version was announced on January 7, 2017.

Is anyone surprised?
I was. I thought it was released for switch ages ago.

Is ubisoft trying to fulfill its own prophecy that their games don't sell on nintendo consoles? Because if so, they'll probably wait a few years and then announce it for nintendo's next console.

Where's the dislike button?
Looks like this developer has no respect for Switch gamers.
Um...what respect?

They've probably made a proof of concept to see if it'd work on the Switch, seen that it worked, announced the port, then found too many issues during development with the console and decided that wasn't worth it. Why would they spend extra money to develop for a console that's not looking good piracy-wise?

Because everything is selling a lot?

I find more satisfaction with your argument than the developers themselves.
I don't blame them for cancelling the Switch port but rather the way they announced it.

Because you aren't allowed to say anything in the industry about piracy for fear of tremendous backlash.

VGChartz I know but are you sure

Software wise, much less third party software wise, the Switch is atrocious if you are sitting there as a software dev.

Correction... “Skate 4”
Please don't. I played skate 3 yesterday, albeit without any DLC (did you know they will sell you party play that they had in 2 back as DLC?) and would have to wonder what they strip out next.
Maybe Session will do well

Pausing on that control screen makes me wonder.

"We’ll have more exciting news to share soon."

Yeah cause this news was sooooo exciting to hear.

That sentence can be interpreted in multiple ways.
Maybe with more exciting news they don't mean "a bigger amount of exciting news" but rather "news that are more exciting than this". :rofl2:

Hmmmm I wonder why Ubisoft would start canceling planned games for switch all of a sudden right when homebrew starts getting really good hmmmm...

I mean, these are the same people who built are marios + rabids game from scratch, why all of the sudden disinterest in publishing switch games? Is nintendo's platform not secure enough anymore for your games?

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.
