TX Releases SX OS v1.3

TX Releases Another Update To Their SX OS, with a big new feature: 'eShop NSP Support' :)
sxos13.jpg
TX does not seem to want to take a break, they have now pumped out yet another major update to their SX OS, check it out below:
We are back once again with an exciting update for SX OS. Let's skip the drama for now and jump straight to the list of new goodies:
  • Add LayeredFS support
Are you excited about any upcoming Game Mods for switch games? Well, we are! To accommodate this we have added what is commonly referred to as "LayeredFS" support. In short what this allows you to do is override specific files from a game with modified copies that are loaded from your microSD's (ex)FAT partition.
Place your custom game files under the following locations on the microSD root:
    - /sxos/titles/<titleid>/exefs/
    - /sxos/titles/<titleid>/romfs/
We can't wait to see what cool mods the community will come up with!
  • Add eShop NSP support
This adds support for installing and launching installed eShop NSP files. This is still rough around the edges and for advanced users only. To install NSP files you need a legitimate copy of the DevMenu, which can be launched currently via LayeredFS. We are still working on adding a custom and easy to use NSP installer to our own menu system. Stay tuned!
WARNING: We do not recommend playing online with installed eShop NSP games without a valid ticket, as this WILL lead to a console ban without a doubt.
  • Add low battery reconfiguration on bootup
Some users were having battery issues after playing around with Switch Linux custom payload. This fixes the "battery desync" issue every time you boot your switch. If you weren't use Switch Linux there's nothing to worry, otherwise; enjoy your penguins AND enjoy your horizon OS! :D
  • Hide OSX Temp files in game selection menu
If you were pestered by bogus entries in the game selection menu chances are high this is because you are using OSX (and Finder). We simply hide those files from the menu now. All cleaned up!
  • Removed eMMC password lock
It seems a perfectly safe and easily reversible hacker challenge we put in place for aspiring hackers has been blown out of proportion. We are sad to see so many false claims on the internet and to avoid any further false accusations and 'fake news' we decided to get rid of it. Namaste.
That's it for today! We'll be back soon. Team-Xecuter doesn't take a break. While others moan on social media we work day and night to bring you the best experience on Nintendo Switch.

I guarantee you, that they could've made a killing selling the dongles (maybe $2 worth of labour and parts) for $20 or $30, and instead offering service through a phone number or via internet chat (RedHat seems to be doing quite well, hello SuSE I see ya too).

Then the people who are here trying to get technical support wouldn't be running around internet forums trying to get help, and they got a nice dongle and didn't have to mess around with paperclips and 3d printers. TX would be putting code back into the community instead of just leeching off it. And for all the people living in poorer countries or ones with backward politics that are keeping them from enjoying gaming (I'm looking at you Brazil, for those wondering what I am talking about see Cloth Maps great short doc).

Do it yourself types and techie peeps would also have a free solution and devs would be free to contribute to TX's code base, likely easing the load on their own devs and bringing their actual customers better and more features and allowing them to focus on the countless people in this forum alone that need technical support.

It sounds great, but what happens when china clones their dongles too?

What is in it for TX? The loss of any income with no real upside.

What this means is that if you clear the error logs using the homebrew tool, the Switch actually can tell if you cleared the error logs.

What it means is someone needs to write a better tool that deletes the logs.

Out of curiosity : does the eshop support work without a SX os license?
Sx OS provides the sig patching needed to launch the games when licensed. Without it the game would just error out upon launch as it's not properly linked to your Nintendo account.

Anyone else have game freezing with new 1.3 ?

I do. But only came across it in Thimbleweed Park.
Console freezes, Power-Button for 10sec or so and then tethered reboot.

Resident Evil Revelations freezes when you turn on motion control in the pause menu and then return to the game.
//Edit: Same thing when you turn it on in the main menu and start the game afterwards. This means no motion control with SX OS at all :/

I had two game freezes today with South Park. The game would get stuck on a loading screen, the Switch itself was not frozen. Simply went back to the Switch menu to close the game. So I do not know of this is a loader or game bug.

Must say that the loading times in South Park seem very long for a fast SD card. Maybe I need to reset my Switch from time to time, no idea if that will really help.

Still want a sort option by the way. Got ‘to’ many games on my SD card.

Hi all,

Just received my sx pro still in 2 minds if I should start using it now or wait for a newer firmware release By tx. Or get a 2nd switch lol.

If I download paid games from eshop then say a month later I get banned do I lose those paid downloaded games?

Thanks,
K.

You will only lose those games if your account gets banned which happens rarely. Most of the time, people get their console banned meaning that console can no longer use the eShop or play games online, but all of your purchases will be fine. Account bans are limited to severe offences such as playing a game before it comes out.

Im using SX OS only and bought Pro version now. I dont have another Switch. Can I still use the dongle? Embed licence will be wasted? Or can I send it to someone?
