I have two Consoles. I use the First one with Splat 2 since the SX OS release online with a Legit Cert. Got Banned last Sunday.
After that I got a Second Switch. Same Game + Aces and diffrent Legit Cert. Same Ban.

But you can keep on Beliving. I wont stop you from trying it. I just set a Warning.

I have tested it. And it does not work. The Switch IS NOT the 3DS.

What did you use on the first console ? LayeredFS ? Other Homebrews ? How many games had the same cert on your console ?
Did you use the same cert on the second console ? What about your usage of Aces (you didn't have a card2 cert right ?)

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Just saying "I tried and it didn't work" is not enough.
You might want to explain exactly what you did so we can find out a plausible reason for your ban.
LayeredFS => triggers ban
Card1 on Card2 => might triggers ban
Light game cert on Heavy game cert => might triggers ban
Accessing eshop while on homebrew/CFW => might triggers ban
If you had one of those things then it's already known and everyone here is warned about it. If you didn't have any of those flaws and still got banned then yeah, it's probably not safe.
Though reading your reports it seems that your first console might have been flagged because you used your eshop/updates on CFW, also Splatoon is heavier than 12switch, the second one you apparently used a card1 on card2 + if you used the same cert it's asking to get banned.

On the first one I just used checkpoint with Skyrim.
I used only Splat 2 with the Cert.

On the Second switch I only used Backups.
Splat 2 and Aces with a diffrent legit Cert, as said from skyrim.

I dont know if the Certs from Cart2 are any diffrent. Because Cart2 is nothing else than a diffrent Partition Table. It has nothing to do with AP.

I am done testing now. Take from this results and build on it.

In post #166, you stated to have used 1 2 Switch, which is smaller than the games you then played. I'm assuming this was on your first Switch, correct? This might explain the ban.
On your second Switch, you used a Cart 1 game (Skyrim) to inject a Cart 2 game (Aces), which should justify the ban clearly.
Your bans still don't disprove the theory that playing games online with bigger games' headers and of the same Cart type might still be possible.

I just warned people who dont know what they are doing.
These are Test Results.
Not Speculations as everything else here.

I did test it. It did not work out.

Someone other will test your Theory. And so we will get results.

Of course, I actually thank you for your input, it helps us getting closer to some kind of result.

We still need to see someone banned doing the theorized "safe steps": Injecting a backup with a bigger (or same sized) game's header of the same cart type.

To be honest the issue here is mostly that you just confirmed what reecy said we shouldn't too. So you just confirmed that what he said "is not safe" is clearly "not safe" you didn't go the safe way anyway :P

Which is already nice tbh

Tbh my ban was also delivered after I tried playing MK8 with Zelda cert. I had done everything else up to that point (Layerdfs, devmenu etc) but cert injection online was the last thing. Its the one that broke the camel's back.

I think there is Game Information in those Certs. And if not, Nintendo surely has a Database with all the Certs and the Game Title wich it belongs to.
And they will just notice that A Gametitle tries to Play a Game with a Cert that does not belong to it. They will propably review it manually befor swinging the banhammer. Thats way it works for a few days.

They surely learned form the 3DS Days.

We kinda had a banwave of LayeredFS, many people could use their switch normally until nintendo decided, it might just be that you were flagged since the beginning.

We don't know anything for sure, maybe they have a database of the certs, maybe not. Nothing can confirm or infirm it atm.

@NightStorm1000 Your first console ban was using a cert from Minecraft and injected in MARIO kart 8 your second was using Skyrim in aces and going online I’m sure that’s what you have reported

Good luck with that, injecting a cert from card1 to card2. Suicide.

Still no ban here, playing online Splatoon 2, Rocket League, Payday using Zelda 000 card cert.

Someone should try using their own card2 cert on others card2 games.
Aces is card2, Skyrim is not, that might be what triggered your ban as it was the case on the 3ds scene.
Actually I always used my Animal Crossing header on all my 3ds games which is a card2 game and I never got banned, and I played online a lot, about 300 hours on Monster Hunter only.

Couldn't you just say buy a game from Amazon the same as the backup, dump the cert then return the game not ethical but it may work

Op you should also add to first post not to use card1 cert on card2 games, even without proof it's pretty likely that will cause a ban.

What if the guy that buy the game again do the same thing? Can happen and you two both will be banned.

It is not. I did this on a Fresh Console to veryfy. New out of the Box. No Homebrew. No Other CFW than SX OS.
Took my Cert from Skyrim. Put it on Splat 2 and Aces. Updated Splat 2 and Aces and
Could play for around 3 Days. Then first a Cert Ban for the Games (No Ingame Online but eShop still works) and 12 Hours later a console ban. (No more eShop)

Did this to veryfy that my first Ban was not related to Homebrew.

They can detect that shit. And will ban you for it.

Do not insert Certs from other Games! Stay offline in SX OS to Avoid Bans!
This may be because u out Skyrim on aces
Aces is cart 2 whole Skyrim cart 1
