you also have disgaea, Fire emblem, Luminous Arc, Advanced Wars and FF Tactics, but I'm not a huge fan of turn based strategy games

Hadn't heard about Witch's Wish and Nanashi no Game. I guess I'll check them out. I'd probably play Pac Man World 3 on PSP.

My DS game library when I was younger mainly consisted of games along the lines of Zhu Zhu Pets and Littlest Pet Shop along with a few platformers that have already been mentioned above (+the original Phineas and Ferb DS game, that was a great game).

However, I'm not sure what 3DS games you've played but if you're also looking for some of those here are my top 10 (not necessarily in order):
1) Pokemon Ultra Sun/Moon
2) Kirby Triple Deluxe/Planet Robobot (I prefer Triple Deluxe but Planet Robobot is newer)
3) The Legend of Zelda a Link Between Worlds
4) Fire Emblem Fates Birthright
5) Luigis Mansion Dark Moon
6) Super Smash Bros.
7) Tomodachi Life
8) Animal Crossing New Leaf
9) New Super Mario Bros 2/Super Mario 3D Land (can't go wrong with either)
10) Mario Kart 7

Since people already covered most of the popular ones, here are a few that are really good, aged well, and easy to miss (not often mentioned):

Nervous Brickdown
Big Bang Mini
Feel the Magic + Rub Rabbits (the sequel)
Ninjatown
Retro Games Challenge

Also, though "Sonic Rush" was mentioned in a couple posts above, I find it mediocre -- but Sonic Rush Adventure (the sequel) was very good!

Some fun titles that you may like and that I have not seen mentioned:
- The two Mario vs. Donkey Kong games for DS. They are puzzle-platformers, like Lemmings; and there are more entries for this series on the DSi and 3DS.
- Lock's Quest, by the creators of Scribblenauts. It is a great-looking real-time strategy game with tower defence elements.

Just download the American romset, AP patch the problematic ones, and trim them using a batch rom trimmer. Then just delete the games you don't want.

Nah, the 3DS version has HD re-drawn graphics, it's arguably the best way to play them.

Yes, meanwhile the *DS* version does not, and is just a upscale of GBA sprites. Which gets upscaled again if you aren't forcing the 3DS to show native DS resolution. So yeah, 3DS version recommended.

There's a lot of really fun Original DS games to play. But any that have a 3D world like Mario 64 DS seem to shine a little brighter with the analog stick on the 3DS.

I’ll just give you my top seven:
1. New Super Mario Bros.
2. Mario and Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story
3. The Legend of Zelda Spirit Tracks
4. Pokèmon Pearl
5. The World Ends With You
6. Sonic Classic Collection
7. Rayman DS

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Hadn't heard about Witch's Wish and Nanashi no Game. I guess I'll check them out. I'd probably play Pac Man World 3 on PSP.
I wouldn’t recommend that, the PSP version’s frame rate is atrocious. Play it on the Gamecube,PS2, or Xbox.
