Hacking EZ flash omega doesn't save a single game (AGS 101)

Not to be rude or anything, but as you can clearly read me and one other person already tried that method and it doesn't work. Your previous firmware v3 doesn't fix anything.

I don't mind @Localhorst86 trying, but you are not looking in the correct direction to fix this anymore... There isn't anything in the previous firmware that has any solution to solving this problem, we have established that.

Localhorst86 is describing the same problem we are having. It kind of seems to create a new save file or loading a save file. But actually it does nothing. Tested this with an old savefile created with the EZ FLASH IV. If this savefile was put on the Omega every single device except the SP 101 was capable of reading the save. The omega just acted like it was reading writing the save but it did nothing.

A great game to test this quickly is "Riviera the promised land", this because you can instantly save after the first cutcene (that you can skip). And on the save screen it actually gives an error when you try to save on the Omega in an SP 101.

It would be nice if you could communicate if you have any clue on how to fix this. Because me and other people are stuck with a card we can't use. Because for me personally I don't give a single thing about it working in the other devices, because I don't use those devices. My prefered retro gaming device is the GBA SP 101.

And if there is no solution it would be nice if you could make an official statement on your website so we can reference to that when we try to return our product to china or whatever...

we have a test user group about two hundreds users, they have all the GBA mods which beyond your imagination. after this AGS101 issue which reported on last weekend, we asked everyone who have AGS101 in the group and test the save function. nobody has the issue. we want to hunt down a sample issue card and a related AGS101 in China to make us resolving the issue, but no success.

to solve a bug. you have to reproduce it, but we have not a sample. so we are still trying to find a sample in China.

why we ask issued user to downgrade? because we changed logical timing sequences in fw4, we are afraid that issue is caused by the change. so we want users downgrade to except the possibility.

which firmware are you using now? can you downgrade to firmware v3 and kernel 1.01

use the firmware v3 downgrader first, then downgrade the kernel. download here http://www.ezflash.cn/zip/omegakernel20180404.zip

I was using V4 - 1.02

I have downgraded to V3 - 1.01 with the same result. Saving is not possible on an AGS-101 model (btw. I tried "clean boot" as well as "boot with addon"). Works fine on any other device.

I also tried manually selecting the save type for this game in the omega menu, which didn't help, either.

I had some freezes running Advance Wars, clean boot, no fast patch. After running through the NOR, no freezes. Maybe a SD card contact issue, i'll keep testing.

Here's one thing I just observed (using V4 - 1.02):

Using Riviera

1. I made sure I didn't have an existing save on the card.
2. I launched the game using an AGS-101.
3. I tried to save a game on the AGS-101.
4. I received the Error message "Save failed"
5. I let it sit for a few seconds and turned the device off
6. I took the Omega and put it into my AGB-001
7. launched Riviera
8. select "Continue" - a save file shows up.
9. Put it back in my AGS-101, start the game, select continue. "No Data"
10. Still on the AGS-101, started a new game
11. When able, tried to save the game in a different save slot
12. Get the error "Save failed" - let it sit for a few sconds
13. Put the omega back into the AGB model, launched the game
14. Both slots I previously saved on the AGS-101 contained a save game.

I have the same issue with my AGS101, V4 1.02

No saving in Advance Wars and Riviera on 101, everything fine on 001.
Other games like Yoshis Island work fine on both.
Using a SanDisk 16gb Class 10 MicroSd. Save games appear in folder, but seem to be not executed at startup, so games start always in default config without savegames.

from the reports of the above two users. We initially concluded that this may be a problem related with logical timing sequences and specific hardware.
It may be fixed in firmware upgrade if we can catch a sample card and ags-101 asap.

I have 2 of them ("C-AGT-EUR E4" it says on the bottom right) and both do not work, most people reporting problems are from europe and some are from US (maybe they have imports)

Good suggestion! but I can't find an EUR version ags-101 in China right now. even from taobao and Alibaba.
The official AGS-101 which sold in China is iQue version. Omega works fine on them.

another way is that we make a new firmware with modified logical timing sequences (with guess) and send it to issue troubled user for test.

Mine is also an EU AGS-101 version, on which the Omega is not saving properly.
Please try to get a 101 to China or provide a new test firmware.
I was so happy about the new Omega, but as long those issues are not fixed, it is useless for me

Sooo.. I‘m almost „glad“ I‘m Not the only one with those problems.

In my case I tried all the Pokémon games, aswell as Zelda.

With my EU AGS-101 I can‘t save a sht.. and when going to save mode, I get an error „Psram error!“

With my DS I dont have any problems, I also dont have the „Psram error“, which shows at least, that the card itself is not broken. Also I can load the „unsaved“ saves from my ags.

Thank you for your kindly reply. The EUR AGS-101 is very rare in China due to the iQue version much cheaper than imported one. We have already mobilized the tester group to find one, time matter.

Can't you just like buy a couple from ebay? Like problem instantly solved? Only the waiting for it to arrive would take like 2 weeks or so.

I can not sure the console which sold on eBay is fake or not. I find some topic on reddit and gbatemp said fake ags-101(modified from ags-001) are sold on eBay.
