Hello,

Just to clear up a few things I have read here. GaryOPA at maxconsole has tested the device and has said specifically the following:

"Remember if you have large family, or few friends nearby, you can buy just one kit, and a few licenses, and share the dongle for installs, and upgrades, as not needed after the first setup, just handy to have for updates, reinstalls, backups, etc."

So, the CFW actually installs and does not need to be done each time after a cold boot.

He has also confirmed that if you want to use a PC or phone to do the install that you do not need the Pro kit. Assuming you already have a jig. The pro kit is just meant to give you a jig and an easy way to flash without being tied to a computer.

I'm still waiting on Team Xecuter to post more information. The first statement in this quote contradicts the second. A few of the official resellers also say that you'll need the Pro kit to use the license.

The main reasons people stay on lower firmware is:

1. Not all homebrew is working on all firmwares currently. You can use hetake to load the homebrew menu on 5.x but most of the homebrew apps aren't working on anything higher than 4x.
2. Softmod options are planned on coming to 4x and lower, no current news on whether that will be possible on 5x.

Ok so TX SX is considered hardmod since it uses the usb thing?
And Atmosphere will be softmod installed to 4.x.x or lower?
Am I missing something out by not upgrading to 5.x.x? Do some game require 5.x.x ?

True enough and I would love to see something official too. I think now is the time to do it, since they are taking pre-orders. But who am I to tell them how to effectively inform your customer base

But, Team xecuter did give maxconsole a sample and had them host the first video of it working. So they have actually used it. I highly doubt any of the retailers have anything but the same copypasta they were all given from Xecuter's site.

So I am tending to lean towards what Gary is saying as being true in this case.

The TX solution at this point is considered a hard mod since there is hardware required for it to work. In this case, instead of a permanent mod chip install, it's simply a dongle that is required on each boot. Softmod would be permanently installed CFW that wouldn't require the dongle anymore. As I understand, atmosphere will be hopefully installable in the future so that we won't need the jig or a microcontroller anymore to inject the payload before boot.

For now, hardmod is our only option. In the future, staying on a lower firmware may make you more illegible for a soft mod. But as far as we know on the current hardware revision of the switch, this method of hard mod will always work.

I will buy only the license , for 2 main reasons Money and waiting time .
1- Argentinas customs take for ever to deliver a shipment and thats if you are lucky and dont have to pick it up for them you have to wait 6 hours on a department and pay a fee .
2- a fast shipmnt trough fedex dhl or ups , gets in a week to you home door but !!! Just the shipping is $40 dollards , so i will be paying more for the shipment than the product .

And is the software on nand or installed as emunand on the M-SD?

I will probably wait for the solder version to see if it bring extra features and maybe I would try atmosphere 1st before buying anything...
