Thank you. Looks complicated and time consuming and highlights just another reason why I dislike this emulator so much because it’s end user experience is so far behind what the og xbox had nearly 20 years ago.

Appreciate the effort you put in though and I fully agree that this place is a mess with so little clarity as bits and bobs are just hidden everywhere.

You literally need just two things:
Playlist buddy tool (from the first post if this there here, not the one I linked) and a .DAT file for your arcade rom collection. Should have come with it, if not google for it.
Feed playlist buddy with the dat file, point it to your roms folder and you're done.

So much faff and nerdism, I’ve never liked this emulator at all but seeing as people in here were saying this is better than og Xbox emulation I thought I’d check it out.

Will stick with it for a bit but so far I’m not impressed (technically speaking and in terms of appreciating the devs is another story - kudos to the team) as the ui, experience and general overall quality is shit compared to the coin ops experience.

I know it may have been answered already but there are over 500 pages. How do you update the channel version without losing settings, etc?

The channel don't need to be updated. It'll (most likely) work forever. Just place new cores on your SD. :)
However it's recommended to delete your config and start over for every new RetroArch main release.

The main program will work, but if it it anything like the PC version new stuff is added and tweaked all the time, not just the cores.

Is there a way to use shaders and video filters on Retroarch for Wii U? If so could someone please explain or share the info on how to do it?

Filters should work off the bat, they are under settings/video
For shaders... you need to compile them, look in this thread for more info although there aren't detailed instructions for reasons I already explained.

How does one go about making the classic controller the primary input for player one? Ideally being able to turn that game pad totally off when using FBA and have all inputs via classic controller if possible?

Thanks

I couldn't find much info scrolling through a few pages on how to compile the shaders, i'll try searching around.

Im also having trouble with retroarch adding games to my collection, I have two folders with roms for snes and genesis games and even though retroarch seems to detect all of them and scan them individually they don't get added to my collection. Is there an obvious way of having my roms which are all zip files be displayed without going through the folders each time one by one when I want to load a rom? The games I run show up in my recently played folder so its detecting them at least but they wont add to my collection.

Edit: Yet another issue I ran into is retroarch treating both my gamepad and wii u pro controller as player 1 input, how can I assign different players to different controllers?

Sorry for all the questions, a bit overwhelmed with configuring retroarch thanks.

Can someone with GC adapter and wired GC controller test if hid implementation is working correctly?

I have a WaveBird and the left d-pad input doesn't work in-game, only in menu.

Thanks

hello everyone, kinda new to retroarch on wii u.
Setup: CHBC, Retroarch channel on Wii U menu - working fine so far.
While tinkering with configs and playlists and stuff I came up with two specific questions I couldn't find an answer to:

1) Is it possible to deactivate the Wii U Gamepad (using TV only)?

2) If 1) is doable, can I set more specific options to playlists (like telling which emulator to use), so I could create a playlist which when starting a game from automatically changes controller - order (like making wii u pro controller player 1 instead of the gamepad) and disables the Gamepad?

thx in advance for any hints!
