Gaming Is the PC version of games with a lot of 2d art any better than consoles?

Such as stuff like the upcoming Labyrinth of Refrain. They don't seem like they would require much to run but is there any technical reason why they might be better on PC?

Thanks.

PC will tend to come with free multiplayer, better control customisation, easier cheats, more/infinite save slots, mods... and probably be cheaper too.

As far as graphics go in the modern world now everything is software rendered then other than really high res/long draw distance in some games (4k consoles are a thing but it is mostly a gimmick, 4k PCs are not and the games will scale automatically) then no. You will not be getting higher detail textures, more shadows, more enemies on screen... like you do when looking at 3d games unless you are comparing a 3ds port and PC one or the devs of one of the ports are truly incompetent.

That's interesting. I guess you can't underestimate the usefulness of mods in all sorts of games either.

Speaking of saves though. Is there anyway to secure a backup of a save on the PS4 in the case that your ps4 is struck by a meteor and incinerated?

I thought it wasn't exactly as simple as backing up to a usb and then copying over to a new system because of things being tied to an account. How does that work.

If you are on plus then they will auto upload to Sony's servers by default, though you can disable it should you so desire.

Also USB should be an option.

I don't really consider using plus a valid option since that would require going through sony. I'd rather have full control if possible. I miss memory cards.

USb would be fine but what if you only have a local user account and don't hook it up to PSN? Wouldn't that make any data you have on usb useless if your console got damaged. since how would you get a fresh console to recognize the data? I thought you needed to do a system transfer or at least login with an online account and download through the cloud.

Thanks for the help you've given me btw.

The joy of games online services... Sadly on consoles you are dependent on systems that will definitely shut down one day and without no much hope for thirty party systems taking their place. A lot of games on pc had their online part shut down too but 95% of the time there is a way around and 66% of the time a community behind the new system taking care of it and maintaining the game alive. Speaking of saves, Steam today covers most of the games available on the platform and it will stay there for a long time also, at the same time, nobody and anything forbids you to backup your games and your savefiles or even emulate steam in the catastrophic event valve shut down (which is still very unlikely to happen even in a decade from now). Speaking of modding, a great example is Arcade Dimensions for Quake: It's a super expansion that make use of a modern and improved quake engine that let mappers creating awesome new and intricated maps which are a joy to play and a new experience for veterans.

In my experience they often run better (consistent 60FPS) on consoles. Since PCs have so many things running in the background that could cause microstuttering or lag spikes. Consoles have at most some online services running in the background along with a menu system and a large portion of the system resources are reserved for games only to ensure that the gameplay is smooth.

Graphically? No, don't expect much improvement in hand-drawn or 2D stuff, maybe a little clearer at best.

Though honestly, the best reason to use PC for these games is flexibility and free online. You can use literally any controller you want if the game supports controllers, for example, and online is completely free.
