So my question is, what kinda reboot are we talking about? Are we talking like hard reset gen1 kanto only? Cause at this point (preparing for the beating i'm going to receive), the franchise DOES feel stale. This is something that would definitely get me reinterested.

If a reboot occurs, ie imagine it would try and remake the game by adding in the new stuff, rather than just ignoring it.

Hell, if they did it right, they'd be able to add every generation of pokemon 1 by 1 as a remake as dlc, and still be able to charge a high price.

Win/win

A lot of people are thinking it's along the lines of B/W reboot where the old generation was locked behind postgame content. They wouldnt' create a whole lineup of pokemon including the meshes, textures movesets and shit just to throw it away a generation later. This is what makes the most sense to me.

Pretty much all of the rumor mills are saying the same thing. I expect some big changes to certain gameplay elements, and I do think we'll be playing through Kanto again, but in a very different way.

Honestly, id love that when the new game comes out, its a new region. That then let's us go to kanto . Then add each region as dlc.

It's perfect. Gives a nice long game. People get a massive post story involving the much beloved region, then dlc and keeps the game alive, cutting development costs too as all the big work is done.

Now on mechanics, I've no idea how they'll expand the game further or change mechanics. Id honestly not like if they changed from turn based to, say, pokken tournament. Or any real time combat system.

Start in Kanto, end In Kalos. That'd be great.

Do you think this could be the beginning of a modular series? Instead of releasing a WHOLE new game for a new generation or area, they just start releasing chunks of DLC with the new updated content? I could see a system like this lasting for the rest of the Switch's lifespan.

I'm really hoping that they do revamp the battle system. This is very much a two sided debate, but I think everyone can agree that the formula has gotten stale. There's only so much they can do with a pure turn based system. Maybe something like Ni No Kuni would work. Best of both worlds.

That's scary how similar our posts are. But totally agree, this would be the best system in my mind.

A new region would be cool, but my dream would be just Kanto and Johto linked. I think at most there will be two regions because the visuals will be far more high-end on this one for both Pokemon models and animations. Not to mention the non-combat game world (Pokemon Snap as a side game pls).

I think it's just a rumor and not worth speculating. So, there's nothing more to say. At this point, if it's not on Serebii, Bulbapedia, or any other reputable Pokemon database/news site, it's pure fiction.

Until it's not. There's nothing wrong with speculation because it's just that, speculation. So lets talk and fuel conversation.

I talk about it if it's true. There was a supposed leak about the Gen 8 starters that turned out to be fake, rather jump into shitting or praising the designs, I said nothing. As it proved to be fake, I felt satisfied that I didn't waste my time on that. It's similar here, why talk about something that likely won't happen? Unless it's a total fantasy discussion but the discussion is as if it could come to fruition, which I don't believe

As long as it's not another f****** kingdom hearts clone, like all the traditional RPGs are moving to. I mean, I adore kingdom hearts, and I don't mind change, but do something better than just "now things just happen without you thinking about it! MASH BUTTONS! HAVE FUN!". I like my traditional RPG with strategy and planning. not *everything* has to be button mashing, on-the-fly, thinking. That's boring to me. They won't have a battle community like they do now if they change genres like some people are thinking X'D

Personally, I'm expecting a full 3d remake of the first game, with new battle mechanics or style of battle, but sticking to the same turn-based genre. Well, that's more of a hope.

it's not that strange to get a reason to that ... the pokemon today is far from what it was on first time
I men.. it was going very accordig the cannon until BW2 , but when 3DS came, and together, the iternational way to make the main series, in another words, mixing the japanese canon and western canon so they could make game with all the "important" languages with no regiona diferences like all the others had (only localization of names and stuff), with this an " paralel universe" was created in the main series and know what? the original universe was let apart, even for remakes it lost on the older game snow, with a reboot this new canon is just being more confirmed

unless they came with a new canon or fix these paralel reality stpudy holes XD

Real Time fights please! with skill cooldowns or something. No more turn-based combat that involves just OHKOs, its starting to get a bit old...

So... Pokken?

Pokemon is one of those series that really don't need such a drastic change. Real time battling would be corny.
