Emulators are pirating the console because they allow you to run games of that console with out buying it.
People, some of them perhaps, may be pirating games.
But emulators are not pirating, first thing emulators are not a legal entity.
Pirating the console would mean stealing it from shipments and selling it for cheap. That would be illegal.
Perhaps you mean plagiarising the design of something?

Let's say, if you are say NISSAN, and you duplicate exactly a car designed by FORD copying its design and software to the T, then you are quite probably infringing FORD patents and copyright. That would be illegal.
But if you are NISSAN and you create your own car, that can do the same thing a FORD card can, but you didn't copy it's design, instead you came up with a way to replicate its performance on your own, it wouldn't be illegal.

The same applies to emulators. It was ruled so before, decades ago, it is the law. Emulators are not piracy, and they are legal. Nintendo also knows of it. Do you really think Nintendo could and would succesfully bribe legislators from all around the world to modify the laws to their convenience only to be able to shut down an emulator? That is quite a strech, it didn't work in the past also.

PS: I am still waiting for FORD to shut down NISSAN, as they allow you to drive without buying a FORD car.

Yeah but emulators allow piracy with out hacking the console meaning easier piracy.

PCs also allow piracy, because they can run emulators. Let's shut down PCs!
Actually, life allows piracy and all other crimes. Let's shut down life! The final solution! /s

PS: Of course it makes no sense, the same way it makes no sense to shut down emulators (the tool) because they can be used for bad. This, also, is recognized by the LAW, if the LAW says they are not illegal, what can you do? Kill humanity to stop crimes?

Yeah but piracy wouldn't be as big of a problem if it wasn't so easy to pirate some thing you can just google it. Also unlike real life crimes so many people would do it it would not be worth it to arrest every one who does it even though it has the same effect as stealing.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Its like saying piracy is kinda ok because alot of people do it if millions of people robbed stores do you think they would make it like piracy and not give a shit. Well yeah the only reason you don't get in trouble for downloading is because so many people do it and its hard to find all the people doing it that they treat it as a grey area and not a real law.

Sure, but the same way you may not like... let's say planes, because they burn a lot of fuel, pollute the air, and make the sky look nasty with their trails (?) or whatever, from your point of view they might be evil and should be illegal.
Whatever, so you may want to shut them down for good...
Well, reality check, YOU CAN'T. (the same way Nintendo can't shut down an emulator)

As long as the law still say planes are legal, the only thing you could do is go buy an RPG from Russia and try to shut the planes down yourself /s. Of course that itself would actually be illegal.

As long as the law still says emulators are legal, the only thing Nintendo could do is try to shut them down in their own through scare practices, threatening or trying to bring you to ruin with their money. Of course that itself is illegal. (but sure, the same way an RPG would work to bring planes down illegally, this threatening tactics could illegally bring down an emulator, but that is another story)

Yeah your allowed to make emulators but are you allowed to build a Nintendo game from scratch even if you use your own models and every thing no Nintendo will take it down. Making an emulator is like making a already existing game from scratch and making your game as close as possible to the real game except your doing it with the console. I do wonder why used games are allowed though they allow stores to make money off games they don't own. Piracy and used games have the same effect the only reason why piracy is illegal is because its free i guess because used games also cause the same affect.

I do think that Yuzu is running only 1 core like Citra for now. But meh. They're still developing afaik. I do believe that Yuzu/Citra Devs need more assistance for RE the Switch so that they could like double the progress like slight optimization or .nro support.

I don't really get your answer, are you talking about CPU emulation ?

I'm pretty sure this GPU is even worse that the switch tegra...

I don't think so, yes it is not a powerful GPU, but it has more cores at a higher clockspeed than the tegra X1 :)

Like I said, maybe that Yuzu/Citra team still use CPU Emulation for the Switch Emulator for now and will likely change to GPU.
I found out that running Yuzu on GPU is pretty much slower than CPU(my buiod last month). Haven't download the latest on their website yet and maybe I'm wrong.

Oh yes, I don't even think the GPU is emulated right now ^^

Fan made games of Nintendo games are a breach because they use characters, designs, names, titles from original game which Nintendo takes down due to confusing the market with copyrighted material as someone will think said fan game is official. Some fan games are using the base from a rom which in turn is illegal as everything is used from code to the IP etc which is all copyrighted.

An emulator is all original work to simulate the behaviour of hardware via software using 100% original code from the devs, which is also why the emulator is not called the console and has a fancy name as that might cause abit of fuss since it's copyrighted.

I hope you understand abit better on why things work they do now, it's not just straight black and white, there is shades between the lines that define a whole rule, when viewed in a complete picture.

Cool that it works, but what a stupid name for the emulator...
They want it related to oranges.

Citra is pretty self explanatory on why it's called "Citra" in the first place(CTR means Citrus; hence Citra).
But Switch, it's codename or model abbreviation isn't a fruit nor an element nor a beverage. Odd name, but meh. It'll grow on us.
