So why or how would selling Rare be good or make it better? All the devs left and the only good thing to get would be their IPs, nothing else.

False, Nintendo owns the entirety of the Star Fox Adventures IP. Why do you think Krystal was in Super Smash Bros. The only IPs MS owns are Jet Force Gemini, Kameo, Perfect Dark, Killer Instinct and a Conker's Bad Fur Day. SFA is owned by Nintendo in its entirety. At least try to cite a source on that.

Not easy, many moved on, I don't blame them.

"So to speak"... don't hurt yourself. Rare would definitely have a shot at revival.

The issue is rare has already said they hate sequels like a month ago. At this point, they seem to really want to develop new ips and that is it. They already said they do not want to work on a new banjo kazooie game. I am fine with them going the new ip route if:
1. They make single player focused new ips as well
2. Someone else revives the rare franchises under Microsoft and rare's approval similar to killer instinct 2013

Yup, the new RARE sucks, because of Microsoft. There's nothing preventing new management from doing some shuffling or changing the roster. I feel like I'm on repeat.. Oi. Oh well, this is going nowhere and fast.

Well, the first thing that comes to mind is... sports! Both companies are mostly western base, so kind of makes sense.

Between EA's bad business practices and Microsoft exclusive problem, I don't think much is going change for Microsoft. Most of their stuff, just ends up on PC anyway and it is no telling of how well the IP and developers are going be used.

As for gamers, I'm sure most want EA to be broken up and not just bought up and place under one company.

article said:
Rumors of acquisitions are a perennially favorite pastime in the game industry.

*looks around on gbatemp*

You won't say... :P

Personally, I don't believe it. Why would microsoft pay 35 billion dollars to acquire a company that has multiple "worst company on the planet"-awards on its name? And it's not like EA isn't making games for the system as it is.

In that regard, purchasing valve (also mentioned in the article) has a lot more synergy (though I assume the costs of that would be a lot larger).

Rare now isn't the good Rare we once had. Just sell the IPs back to Nintendo, the company is a mere shadow, and all the original devs have moved on.
Rare ip's were never nintendo's. Nintendo only owned 49 percent of the stocks back then. Don't get why everybody always think Nintendo made Rare great while Rare made itself great, nothing to do with Nintendo. The only ip owned by Nintendo is Donkey kong but again they gave Rare permission to use it. That doesn't make it so that Nintendo made those games. Rare brought out games to the platform exclusively most of the time because of the 49 percent stocks but Nintendo didn't make Rare games great, Rare did !

So they'll just force some EA-owned studios to make a couple of shitty remakes of their games before just holding them hostage while they make a few sports minigames.

Might be a good thing.

I mean, EA can't get worse and Microsoft has actually been improving. I don't think it would be so bad.
(except that EA games may become Xbone exclusives. Personally, I would never buy a EA game made after 2007 but i know many other people do.)

Article's original title: The Xbox One has a serious exclusive games problem

I could not find any threads being mentioned in the News & Featured Content section on GBATemp. Given that this article came out today, it's fairly recent.

The most important section of the entire article:

So, it looks like the rumor mill is going about how Microsoft may tap into their reserves and buy Electronic Arts. This will dramatically change the video game industry, and perhaps even put EA titles onto Xbox Game Pass through its exclusivity subscription options and such.

We'll see how it goes.

Buy me if old.
One fucking time I'm happy a company buying another company. If EA is bought, Microsoft might not play like they do and we might actually get some good games from them.

Well if Microsoft purchased EA they could make Fifa, The Sims, Need for Speed, Madden FNL, NBA Live and Battlefield games Xbox exclusives.

Personally I hope they don't though, all EA's major franchises have been milked and run in to the ground at this point. Enough people seem happy to keep buying new versions of FIFA and so on each year, so it might be something they perceive to be worth it...

It's still better than most of their development output in the 8 bit NES era. Y'all just blinded by stuff like DKC and Banjo Kazooie that you played as kids late in their (real) life.
