I have a N3DS on firmware 11.5.0-38E (unfortunately without any backups of earlier versions) running Luma and B9S and I was wondering if I could downgrade to 11.2 in order to format a new Emunand to use my Gateway Card.
Do you guys have any suggestions on how to downgrade to 11.2 or is there an easier way to get my Gateway card working again?

My plan was:
1. Downgrade 11.5 -> 11.2
2. Format Emunand using Gateway Launcher
3. Unlink Sysnand and Emunand
4. Upgrade Sysnand from 11.2 -> 11.5

What do you think?

Instead of downgrading your SysNAND which is always risky (not very but still), I would create the EmuNAND and then downgrade the EmuNAND.

I honestly think you should just stop using the Gateway 3DS at this point because it appears the Gateway Team has abandoned the project.
I know I tend to get a lot of hate for making these comments, but look at the effort you have to go through just keep this thing running. It's a lot of work for so little payoff and it's just sad really.

Yep, ditch 11.2 emunand or any emunand for that matter and stick to you're luma cfw setup now. GW have given the middle finger and have merged with Sky3ds...to release a new card.

Plus don't believe that shady GaryOPA either over at Maxconsole with his post updates.

I guess you're probably right, now that B9S is out and everyone has access to it Gateway is obsolete. It's just sad that I have to redownload all my "backups" from freeshop QQ

Did they merge with the SKY3DS team or they just reverse engineered the card?

You plans should work but You could do it way easier.

All you have to do is using a 11.2 ctrtransfer pack.
If you already have an emunand, you could do the ctrtransfer right into emunand.
Before using a ctrtransfer pack, backup all tickets since all tickets will be wiped.
(that means the games are still installed but they won't appear in the HOME menu because the home menu need a ticket per app)
However saves will be intact, it's recommanded to backup them as well.

It isn't necessary to unlink emunand and sysnand before downgrading.
The two are separated from each other. up/downgrading the other doesn't affect the other.
The only think the linked emunand shares is a folder in Nintendo 3DS folder. That means only save data and extdata are shared (incl. friendlist,...).
However it is recommended.

If you want to get to 11.2, make a NAND backup, then use 3DNUS to download 11.2.0-35E (assuming you're using a European console by your flag), copy the CIAs it downloads into a folder called "updates" on your 3DS SD card, and then use the sysUpdater CIA to downgrade.

GW is an outdated method which gives no benefits and just makes trouble. Don't use this shit ever IMO, it formatted my emunand like 4 times and in the 4th time I moved to B9S. No regrets, really

I would consider it if there was some homebrew for AR cheats that was half as good as what Gateway does. It's the only reason I still use my Gateway.
It doesn't worth it!
GW emunand can be destroyed with just no reason! From experience! Move to a better setup, the cheats just are not making all of my problems with GW I had less bad

Well, the rumours are is that they merged with some Sky3ds members and a ex dev from Datel has joined with the same Gateway sales team.

Other things are:

1) Only one GW coder who works alone, with next to nothing comms to anyone, hence the massive wait for this new update.

2) Secret drop off locations with pen drives with latest builds to test. This is due to Nintendo apparently witch hunting the coder for his/her arrest, so no online activity trails are found.

It does all sound interesting, yet I take it with a pinch of salt tbh.

Honestly that sounds like a pretty cool story that needs it's own thread. I would love to follow along with this little adventure.

is it safe to downgrade sysnand while having b9s installed and a backup of my previous nand?

I've never had a problem with Gateway, though I don't rely on it alone; I never installed its fastboot, for example, preferring to use the community-developed A9LH. And in any case I have updated backups and my trusty old AK2i is already flashed in case I ever need to recover any of my 3DS.

I've used Gateway since back when you could only have one ROM per MicroSD and I've never had that issue, not even sure what you mean by "it formatted my emunand" since the only way it would do that is if you selected the option in the GW menu.
There are a couple of benefits to GW: .3DS ROM loading and cheats. Other than that, you're right, there's not much point in it.
I still use mine just because of convenience, although I have B9S+Luma.

Idk man GW does problems to me with current apps sometimes like Freeshop. Not in one particular SD card. My emunand was destroyed few times. Yeah, it wouldn't happen when I use only GW stuff.. but it's dumb. Also worrying about sysnand ver and emunand ver is pretty hard when connected to internet. One move and depending on the case you might lose something or the access to GW or hacking at all w/out a flashable DS flashcart..
