I would sure hope, I would still advise a lot of caution though...

Alright, that explains it...
The Big N didn't give a rat's left nut about the NDS testing tools.

Yeah, what Jacklack said. dev.3ds.guide, it's super easy to follow too and you should be fine. You can also remove the hack right after as well, so it'll go back to stock. Preserving these rare things are always nice!

What is the game about? What i'm thinking is it's supposed to be like Magic Eye or somethin' but i'm probably very wrong.
Thx for the Help I will take a look at it tomorrow
ship it to me and I'll dump it
Yeah the thing is that I live in Europe :/
Considering how far he is and how careful he should be with the console, no offense, but I think he's better off himself. :P
Oh well to be honest like I told you all allready I had to salvage the Motherboard and bottom Part as somebody tryed to Filed Destroy it allready Halveway ripped of Upper Screen )

@SirKelly Mind dumping it? You can hack the system using https://dev.3ds.guide and create a CIA of it (and restore the NAND backup to return it to an unhacked condition if you'd like).

If it's an Old 3DS dev unit, it's "Panda", aka CTR/SPR/FTR. "Snake" is New 3DS, aka KTR/RED/JAN.

System codenames:
  • CTR: Old 3DS
  • SPR: Old 3DS XL
  • FTR: Old 2DS
  • KTR: New 3DS
  • RED: New 3DS XL
  • JAN: New 2DS XL
Since your unit is an Old 3DS, you'll want to use the CTR files.

The basic test unit is called "Panda" for any model, SNAKE, CTR or JAN.

If you don't release it, at least dump it and make backups. These pre-release games and applications can give really great insight on how the hardware was developed and what changes were made until final. I'd honestly suggest you dump the entire NAND and find someplace to get the files hosted for preservation. A lot of this stuff comes in the hands of collectors and sits in a closet forever - don't let this happen. With that said it's your find and what you do with it is all up to you. It's a very interesting historical piece nonetheless. Good luck man!

Okay so I bought a lot of 37 3DS systems for just 475 Bucks as they all needed fixing ( asd I love to have that as a hobby ) but I soon noticed after 5 systems that they were all Kiosk Units and got a bit of a fight with the guy who sold them to me as he meant that he bought them off a guy on a fleemarket in April and I tryed to expain to him that they were probably ones used in stores and just were destroyed after they were used ( Just toren the upper screen off ) and well there were 5 3ds ones and 32 3ds xl ones and well the xl ones nothing special but the original little ones all blue but of 1 of them well then it didnt looked the same way a the others and wanting to get ready to send them back to the seller as I noticed a little thing that there backpannel has been WAY different and expectet it just to be a Japanese version of the 3ds but then saw the date of 2010 ... I pulled the Motherboard out and put it into another system and well there was a broken screnn so I just expectet that somebody f up while installing a coustom firmware ( As I somestimes get there systems ) almost wanting to throw it into the defictive pile as I thought it strange that the background color wasnt blue but black so I put it into another system ( On of mine ) and there it was a DEV MENU and well going though this stuff trying not to screw something up I was very cautius and found a unnamed title called "3D Challange" and I cant find anything to this name on the web / I dont think this game has been dumped yet does anbody have any idea what it is / or if somebody has heard about it allready :)
Can you make a video of the game? I'm interested in seeing it.

Honestly speaking, I do agree that he should dump the entire NAND, but I don't think that's really necessary...

You'll have this happen a lot dealing with this stuff and it all comes down to if you'd rather have the money or have the historical piece. I wouldn't fault you for parting with it, but at the same time you definitely seem like someone who cares about the platform enough you'd spend $500 on a lot of broken systems. Put in the same position, I'd have a hard time, but for me personally some of what the preservation community has done would probably make me keep the system and dump the files.

Actually - fuck that guy. I want to see if this community can put there money where there mouth is. What is his offer? If enough of us commit we could give you the money AND get the files. Assemblergames would be very interested in this, post there.

It's not about taking money for piracy in this case - this is software that was never officially released and is not available in any capacity other than internally and quite frankly, Nintendo would only go after you if you were dumping Super Mario Odyssey with a Switch hack along with it, they won't bother you about a 7 year old dev unit that enthusiasts want for archival purposes. And the idea here is to beat his offer, not give you thousands of dollars. We've done this before with things like Geist Force on the Dreamcast or Sonic Xtreme for the Saturn - the community will match whatever the person who, probably wants to keep in his private collection and let it sit, so you don't have to dilemma of potentially losing some history or making money, you can recoup what you paid for the lot and release something very special. That is, if enough people care to pitch in the money.

You got some points there on one hand does money sound pretty good ( I mean for whom wouldnt it ? ) on the other hand do I feel a bit like letting a comunity bleed for it ( with money ) and feel like a bad man for keeping this game "hostage" but still Im a bit scared as its ( From the looks of it ) 1rst Party software nd how nintendo would react to it

The people at assemblergames would probably know more about this.
Anyway hack it and dump the file anyway. You can decide what to do later.
