But, before I go into that, I wish to explain the reasoning behind it. It all began from seeing a post on Facebook, my older brother is getting a new PC that he's building, and I casually commented "I wish I could get an upgrade lol" Well, to my surprise he commented back saying he was going to give me his Broadwell (or was it Haswell, I forgot), either way, the CPU is from 2015, whereas my current CPU is from 2012, and also his motherboard, DDR4 SDRAM RAM, etc. I was taken aback, because I didn't even have to ask Anyways, getting to the point of my query, so obviously, there's no way I can keep Windows 7, what with the impending upgrade and all, naturally I need to move to Windows 10. There are a few concerns about this, things that worry me tremendously.
1 - The apps I have installed will have to be reinstalled, taking up even more HDD space, which I don't have a terribly large amount of.
2 - Apps like Source Filmmaker having to be reinstalled alongside the Source SDK for functionality, will I be able to still point the program to the usermod directory where all my maps, models, etc are despite being on Win 10?
3 - The games themselves, they're installed on both 1st and 2nd HDDs, but will I have to reinstall them, taking up more space?
4 - If all else fails, it is possible to "keep" Windows 7, reactivate it somehow with the new CPU/mobo, and install the drivers, etc to get it working condition?
The biggest thing I'm not looking forward to is having to resintall apps, logging back into the various websites, Steam, Skype, etc. Surely, there's a way I can upgrade without breaking every single thing in Windows, right? I know when there was the free upgrade from 7 to 10, you can keep all your stuff, but I missed that boat. Failing that, is there anything I can do at all? I don't want to stress myself over going from 7 to 10, and yes, while I did back up a huge majority of my data on my external 2 TB HDD, I still have reservations. If I can keep 7 somehow, I'd like to, even if I have to reactivate it somehow. Thanks
