Ok so, I've been breaking my head for 2 days straight with this...
I purchased this Hard Drive off of eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/110898107749?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT and then this Sata enclosure http://www.ebay.com/itm/331502260675?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT to be used for my modded 4.3u Wii.
My end goal was to play GC games on Nintendont, N64 games on Not64 and other retro emulators using my 2TB hard drive within the 3.5" sata usb 2.0 enclosure. Take note that I was previously playing EVERYTHING perfectly using my old 500GB HDD using Sata Cables to connect it to power and to usb, but unfortunately I blew it out due to me putting the power wire upside down.. (I blame the cheap soft plastic Chinese power wire that didn't stop me from placing it backwards)
So, I received both the HDD and the enclosure after a few days, placed it all in carefully connected it to my Windows 10 laptop, formatted the drive to MBR then gave it a simple volume, then I formated it to FAT32 with 32bit Clusters without creating any partitions as I want the entire drive to be Fat32 and I don't want to share it with anything other than my Wii. I then placed 1 GC game inside using DM toolbox and 4 N64 games (Just to test it out)
SO I connect it the correct usb port on the Wii and the game shows up on Nintendont seemingly fine.. but as I click on the game everything says 100% like it previously did with my old 500GB drive, but then it black screens, and all 4 lights light up on my motionplus Wiimote and it stays like that untill I turn off my Wii. So I tried Not 64, and the games work but there is a slight lag to them.. lag wasn't as apparent in the 500GB HDD, but it could be my imagination.. not sure.. after all this I could be going crazy.
So I tried formating it back to NTFS then back to FAT32 with 32bit clusters a TON of times using a different program to format to FAT 32 each time, and each time.. same results. I mean I used about 6 different programs to format to FAT32 and still nothing.
I then read online that Hard Drives above 2TB need to be 64bit clusters.. oooook?? That doesnt sound right..not for GC games atleast but um.. sure why not.. at this point my mental sanity is about to leave me so I tried 64bit clusters and guess what happened? You guessed right... NOTHING different. I even went as far as to taking the HDD out of the enclosure and testing it with my Sata to USB cable with the power brick that I used for the 500 GB drive and yup, same result.
I NEED to get this working within the next 4 days... PLEASE help me solve this problem. I KNOW for a FACT that it is NOT the Wii or the enclosure that's causing this, but the 2TB HDD. Also fun fact: I spent the last of my saving on this HDD and enclosure.. so I don't have money to just spawn more, and I really don't want to send it back as I'm on a time limit.. can anyone please help??? Thank you in advance!!
(PLEASE STAY ON TOPIC)
