Hello, this is my first thread, so... sorry for the spelling mistakes.

I've been wondering if there's any way to capture the Wii U Screen without a capture card (like the NTR CFW in 3DS). If so, how could it be done?

Yeah, I wish there was a homebrew like that.
People keep telling me no one is interested. Typical GBATemp...

You see now more people are interested!

#gimmeromzloaderplease2017 sorry couldnt resist when you mentioned a lack of interest in homebrew. Sadly too many people on here immediately equate homebrew to piracy and think they're one in the same, not realizing that homebrew exists outside of backup loaders etc lol.

Even devs here evade every idea with "There's an alternative on another platform" type of message.
Man, now it makes me think... At this rate, nobody will exploit Wii U 100%, then it will be dropped and left out because Switch got hacked.

One thing that you cloud do is set up drc-sim on your PC. This tool broadcasts your GamePad screen to your PC. You could then record this using a screengrabbing tool.

Technically, you aren't using a dedicated capture card here. :ha:

..or, you can post your screen in the miiverse and then retreive it in your pc.. but meh.. miiverse.. does anyone actually still use it?

Anyway, personally i would love to see a cfw with the screenshot option, and the module already exist for the miiverse so i guess we could get it by downloading the client miiverse wup..maybe.. and then integrate it in mocha or any cfw..
.. if we can find how to use a fonction in the pause menu without launching an app as a title, maybe it could work on-the-go, and then, from there maybe we can integrate the screenshot feature from the miiverse, directly on the pause menu, pointing to the sd card instead of miiverse.. to make it point to the sd card, maybe we can use ArtAcademy?..does art academy allow to keep the drawing to the sd? Maybe its something to look into..

I miss how the scene was when people was modding the old xbox.. everyone was helpfull and happy, but now, so many people gettinh angry for not getting stuff, and so many people judging other.s ideas,. If people would stop bitching and judging, the scene for the wiiU could get reallly interresting! And now is the perfect time.

What we need:
-an alternate system menu (will release it soon when i integrate some stuff, as of now, its just a new 'look' for the menu..)
-a media center using dual screen
-a screenshot module
-an on/off wifi button on the pause menu
-a proper file manager

I dream of a perfect wiiU :P

When there is a proper nand restore app, we will see way more progress on stuff that lot of people want to see or make.

Maschell tried it ("video" capture). He Even has some example code and a demo of doing it with shovel knight. He reported it to be slow, only able to do frame grabs, and all screens had to be transferred off and made into a video later..

For just screenshots, you can use UsendMii anyways, a Windows program that allows you to do this.
But we're talking about video capture here.
Ah i see.. he wrote 'like ntr for n3ds' so i tought he was talking about screenshots.. i didnt know we could video capture with ntr on 3ds :P

In all honesty, its very sad that they say "Yeah, you have media player on your pc, you have a browser on your phone" where all the love for discovering new stuff and creating new and exciting homebrew went? I'm disappointed, I wish I was a coder :v

Man i wish this type of stuff was less complicated.

Me too, I never get too far... it is an exciting world! but it gets really complicated, specially when all of the coding languages are English and my first language is Spanish, all of that memory pointers and floating thing gets me really confused.

I miss how the scene was when it was the era of the old xbox.. was amazing when people made XBMC!.. but then xbmc became its own beast :P anyway, imagine something like XBMC or even FreestyleDash (for 360), but in the wiiU with the gamepad and touch screen cam gyro etc.. would be amazing.
...but until we have a proper way to restore our nand, the risks are to big for most people to go ahead making and testing big stuff.. like an alternate sys.menu ...

/people who actually like the Wii U's dual screen nature and want to do crazy things like run two instances of lightweight emulators (such as Game Boy) at once or even just unlock the replay encoding capabilities of Smash Bros..
