If you have downloaded them once before while they were available, you should have access to redownload them. There is also freeshop though, if you roll that way.

I mean without having gotten them before. Basically asking if there's hacky way to obtain (as close to) legit Ambassador status.

You can't obtain Ambassador status legitimately anymore.

The only way to get the games and certificate is if you got an Ambassador 3DS and systransfer it.
Or if you've got no diginity, you could pirate them.
But that doesn't make it legitimate.

If I were to use freeshop to obtain them, would I later be able to redownload them through eshop?

No, but if you have freeshop, you wouldn't need eshop.

Just in case you didn't know, freeshop is a homebrew app that downloads cia's directly off of Nintendo's servers, but for free.

Yes, its completely illegal to download games you don't own
No, using it or titles you got from it online wont get you banned

BTW though, just for my clarification, what is a 3ds ambassador, what was the ambassador program, and did it actually give you any power if you had that title, other then the free games it supplied?

Ambassador status was given to people who bought (and connected to the eShop) a 3DS before its first price drop (from $250 -> $170, IIRC). It gave them access to 10 NES VC games (later released for purchase) and 10 GBA VC games (never released for purchase).

You can get Ambassador status by finding a console with Ambassador status and no NNID, and transferring to it. I did this (transferred it to a spare N3DS, then transferred my console to it, so the games were merged with mine).

No hacky way, but as stated before you can download all the games and the certificate from freeShop.

Your best bet is to buy a another 3DS online with a Ambassador Certificate or just download the Ambassador Certificate from the freeshop. Other than that, theres no other way to get it. AND if you want this Ambassador Certificate on YOUR NNID then you are forced to buy a 3DS thats on FW 6.3.0-12U. Which is pretty far back, however these are the only options you got.

Bear in mind that the ambassador releases are all smeared in darkness and ghosting filters, so you really don't want those things on your machine in the first place.

Umm.... You won't get banned from using pirated games online... There is no way to detect if it was pirated or not. The only way to get banned is by using a public header. Aka, gateway.

you can, but those gba titles arent worth it id use an emulator

Yeah agreed, my first 3DS was an ambassador one. I downloaded all the titles and literally never played any of them once.

It was attempted psychological manipulation by nintendo to make you think the extra 100 dollars you paid more than everybody else a week ago was actually worth it.

FreeShop was my goto for my "Ambassador Status" since I lost it along with my NNID from the Pokemon SM Ban. I do not feel bad at all downloading all the games I used to own on that NNID from the FreeShop, all $400 worth. I did replace the GBA ambassador games with ones that had the filters removed as that looks a lot better.

To be fair, I scanned eBay back in 2011 for consoles 180$ and cheaper that had the serial in the picture than I checked the serial for Ambassador status then bought it. I got into the program without spending 250$ back before Nintendo caught on and started checking receipts to manually be added via a call to support
