I usually use emunand tools to back up emunand then inject it into the bigger sd. but then I usualy have to reinstall all my cias etc.

this time I'm about to go from rxtools/luna on 9.0 o3dsxl (don't remember which) accessed from the browser.
to a9 with luna and sysnand cfw I will be fallowing the 3ds guide website.

which is the best way for me to upgrade my sd card at this time

should I do it now or is there a step where I can do it in the guide

1. Backup emunand.
2. Backup all your files from your old sd card to your pc.
3. Inject emunand to new sd card
4. Restore all your files from your pc to your new sd card.
5. ???
6. Profit.

If you plan to stay on menuhax, do as I say. You won't have to reinstall the games. You probably didn't backup your sd card the first time you did this.

If you plan to have a9lh and ditch the (obsolete) emunand, follow the guide from here: http://3ds.guide/
You're right, there's a section in the guide where you'll be injecting emunand to your sysnand. Doing so, you will be able to freely swap sd card just by transferring the contents from the old sd card to the new one, no tools needed.

I backed up the sd card but every time I injected my emunand id have to reinstall the cias and most of the time the saves to even tho all files were still on the sd. I had gateway before there was a cfw then I had rxtools then I accessed cfw threw the ds profile . I upgraded my wifes o3dsxl 9.0 to the latest hack like a week or two ago, and the guide is already different (soundhax). I got stuck in safehax couldn't even get it to work with a cart so I had to use the decrpt9.3dsx. and right now the ctrnand transfer just succeeded.

so you are saying all I have to do is back up or copy directly over my 32 to my 64 once ive finished the guide since I'm getting rid of emunand that ive had for years lol.

also to prepare the 64gb what should I format it as . it was being used in my wii u

Yeah, the guide will, well, guide you with injecting the emunand to sysnand and then completely clean off emunand from your sd card. After that, all you have to do is directly copy your files over to your 64gb. If you plan to upgrade in the future, a simple copy-paste from old to new will do the job.

SD cards of 64GB and up should be formatted as fat32 before it can be used on a 3ds.
