Fair? Please add to the cons of sysNAND that the current coldboot doesn't support it, add to redNAND's pros that it actually does support sysConfig. That'll be a little more fair.
I added second part, first part unecessary as you said yourself its stupid idea to install

Currently there are two ways you can use to get full access to your wii u to do whatever you want to it they are iosu cfw and rednand respectively. This thread is mainly for newcomers unsure of what to install on their brand new haxorz machines. On this Thread I will post there pro's and con's for each one and update them as time goes on. Eventually once boot 0 cfw comes out iosu CFW will obvs win so rednand will become redundant but for now its still useful so wait until then.

IOSU CFW
Pros

  • sd card of any size will work with this
  • uses only 14MB on sd compared to the 8GB/32GB of redNAND
  • Works with vWii titles installed with Wup installer
Cons
  • Not 100% safe as it mods sysNAND only temporarly and to reactivate the mods (sig patches etc.) has to be launched again. This makes it so if you modified some critical file incorrectly your wii U will become a fancy black/white brick
  • As of now it cannot install titles created with NUS packer which means in the future when HBL RPX edition is released it will not work with IOSU CFW unless NUS packer is made to work with sysNAND
  • Can't install sysConfig Tool as it is a system title
REDNAND
Pros

  • Should be completely safe to mod anything without worry of brick as you can revert from backup
  • Works with NUS packer
  • works with Sysconfig Tool(not necessary if you just use wup installer
Cons
  • 64GB(black/premium)16GB(white/basic) sd card or higher required to install
  • Dumping your system can take between 1-9 hours depending on your NAND/SD setup
  • System will be limited to the speeds of your sd card so a slow sd will dramatically effect load times
  • According to the current information we have it can never be updated due to the SEEPROM memory not being redirected correctly on REDNAND and once it checks last run latest firmware it will brick unless sysNAND is same firmware
You can weight out what is best for yourself from these pros and cons, the current iosuhax cfw I use can be found here and is maintained by @FIX94 and for redNAND installs the recommended fork is @dimok 's one here , neither of these could have been possible without @smealum so thank him for his work too.
For me, I choose RedNAND for...obvious reasons, as well as the fact that you can install homebrew, VC injects, (possibly) game mods, free games and DLC, etc.

You know the reason I made this is to help people decided what they should use but now everyone is turning to @iAqua 's shitshow of a thread for advice fml

Another con for sysnand is the inability to install VC injects, while you can in RedNAND. But no big deal whatsoever. But if Wii VC become a thing, then it will be a big deal for me!

Even so, I'm sticking to SysNAND CFW until there's actually a need to switch. There is absolutely no harm in usng sysNAND, and it's extremely difficult to brick.

you sure VC injects don't work? I haven't tested it myself but as long as they have valid install files plus a valid ticket (not signed) they should install just fine

I only tried installing two Pokemon DS VC from @Supster131 , but they fail to install in Wup installer. Plus I read somewhere once about someone not being able to install VC injects on sysnand. I'll still consider it a myth though.

If they were made with NUS Packer then yes they won't work for some reason thats still unexplained, you can make your own VC injects with wupserver thought, just get the rom and meta files and dl another candidate DS VC that isnt an inject with utik or wii u usb helper

That would be awesome, someone should def write a tutorial on that. With wupclientgui it's not too difficult though.
How would the game compatibility be like? A friend of mine told me that Pokemon Soul Silver was glitchy in the world. Looks like sysNAND CFW users have to create their own injects manually.

considering DS VC injects are also made with candidate title files just being extracted I would say identical to that. Its really not that complicated I will put it here if you want:
w.up("rom.zip", "/vol/storage_mlc01/usr/title/00050000/YOUR_GAME_TITLE_ID/content/0010/rom.zip")
this is for internal storage put any candidate DS VC title you have installed for the title ID
w.up("metafilenamehere", "/vol/storage_mlc01/usr/title/00050000/YOUR_GAME_TITLE_ID/meta/metafilenamehere")
do this for each meta file
BOOM your own DS VC injects courtesy of you XD

Tell me one thing

Can you inject N64 VC, for Banjo Tooie?!?! Or is it basically the same game compatibility when it came to playing VC injects in Loadiine?

I know that you have to install unsigned dlcs to your USB to not have to reinstall it every time but if you own the disc and just want the dlc, is the only option to install it into the system memory or can you put the updates/dlc into the usb?

I have DLC installed on system memory and USB just fine, for disk games I'm not sure I think its just wherever it installed initially, you can just move it with data management thought I'm pretty sure

Where's Spider-Man????

Truthfully tho I don't think either way is worth it at the moment, the only real reason for either is to pirate dlc!!!!

Since all of these new exploits (CFW, redNAND, brazilian exploit, coolboothax etc.) came out I still waited and haven't applied any of these to my console. I'm still playing with Loadiine.
I've got a New 3DS XL with A9LH+Luma so I know how epic a CFW is and how irrelevant emuNAND/redNAND would be if a CFW for the Wii U gets to a specific state so I'm definitely on the CFW side here.

Only thing that's still stealing my dreams is the fact that I want to use my HDD for vWii (USB Loader GX + Nintendont) and for Wii U games and that is still not possible or am I wrong?
And to be honest I can't see a CFW ever changing this. Only solution I can see is if the redNAND could be placed on the USB drive (inside a folder like it's done with the (v)Wii emuNAND as well).

It serves the purpuse to change your region and super brick RedNand
It thosent change region you can just use region hax for that, it's just for managing titles in a sexy ui but basically all it is is a combination of data management and wup installer, it's con because you can't use it and the ui is so good looking :D

It will never be possible due to the way the wii u encrypts the drive, it is possible to decrypt it but it's format will still not work vwii so that's no good and also the decrypted drive will also not work on the wii u anymore so someone will have to make a patch for the wii u to not care if the drive is encrypted and what format it is but won't be coming very soon. For now just have 1 drive for vwii and another for wii u
