In the immortal words of Gary Coleman, "Whachoo talkin' 'bout, Willis?" Did someone find a way to run DS code on a 3DS, without needing a flash cart? Come to think of it, I heard rumors that there was a way to launch DSi games (maybe DS games too?) from the home menu. I need to find more information about this... now that I'm on ARM9loader this stuff is more interesting to me.
You are a litle late on the party bud there was a lot of discovers on DS(i) on the 3DS, now you can do a lot of stuff, you can use Nitrohax, run games/homebrews with TWL clock speeds, run every flashcard/non-oficial hardware, make forwarders for almost every flashcard or 3DS SD for homebrews and now we got dldi without flashcards [emoji14]

You're right; I am behind on this. Keep in mind I just got Arm9loader on my system, and that was only because someone made it ridiculously easy to do.

So I'll ask you a question: is it possible to run games on a flash cart at DSi speeds? NeoDS is playable at default DS speeds, but slightly too slow for me. There are a lot of emulators I'd like to try on my flash cart, and having access to the 2x speed of the DSi would really sweeten the deal.

That's what the forwarders do.

Hello,

is it possible to set a roms folder for each emulator, so that it is not needed to navigate through the sd-card all the time you change the game?

How are cheats working? I can’t load any cheat file in each emulator (ini files are in the cheats folder of retroarch)?

Thanks in advance

I don't think you can, but you can however set the default starting location for all cores. Settings > Directory > File Browser Dir > (Your Rom folder)

One thing you can do [fair warning] is scan directories to add them to your collection. Though, expect this to take about an hour per 500 items scanned, in my experience. If you have a small collection of files with distinct extensions, you can also just group them together in the same folder.

Generally, Retroarch cheat files are in .cht format. You can download them from the libretro buildbot under the assets/frontend directory, then extract them in the cheats directory in the Retroarch folder on your SD card. The FBA core doesn't use the the FBA ini cheat files as far as I know, but it does support using the UniBIOS and its built-in cheats for Neo Geo games

This sounds great, how do you do it? Any time I've tried scanning the emulator just crashes. Also I'm using XMB interface, so that may have something to do with it.

Black screen is bottom because the debug text is turned off.
Oh.. I'll try it again without turning off the bottom text.

Edit: Nope still doesn't work. Now instead of black bottom screen it just says "An error has occured forcing the software to close The system will now restart"

Edit 2: NVM I see what you're saying. Not as a fix, but just why it was black.

Hi all, what forwarder do I use or set up to get DS/i games working without a flashcard on a o3ds?

I'm going to Load Content > Collections > Scan Directory > (My roms folder) <Scan This Directory > Crash to home menu with black screen on the bottom
The crash is because you don't have the CIAs matching with the .core files.
Search in the /retroarch/cores/ folder and make sure the .CORE files are EXACTLY the ones for the CIAs you have installed in the console. If you have additional ones (or some that you don't won't use), delete them.

The Scan searches for roms for all cores available there, and that's why it crashes.
Only when I deleted the .CORE files of the cores from that folder that I didn't have installed as CIAs, that's when the Scan option worked.

Thanks ShadowOne333, i will test it out. I have some other questions too.

1. Is there a way to define Buttons for each game seperatly?
2. is it possible to define a fire button on 2 separate Buttons, one with autofire and the other one without autofire? This would be very usefull in some spaceship shooters, where you can charge a big shot by Holding the firebutton (without autofire).

I'm not new to emulation at all, but Retroarch / Libretro is new to me so i got some questions here. Is there a coverflow Option anywhere?

Thanks in advance!
