The bios must be SCPH5501.BIN, not zipped.

The games themselves can be whereever you want, as long as Retroach can access the folder.
quit giving false info about the bios first off the latest dumped and most compatible usa bios is SCPH7001 making SCPH5501 so outdated and for EUR games the latest dumped and most compatible is SCPH7502...can somebody edit the main thread so people actually know what bios to use

Retroarch willl not be able to identify the latest BIOS. The only BIOS that it can and needs to read are SCPH5500, SCPH5501 and SCPH5502 according to the libretro wiki. I had to have all three of them in my BIOS directory for the PSX reARMed to stop giving me the BIOS not found error.

1001 is also detected
Are you sure? It did not work for me, no matter how hard I tried.

This is copypasted directly from the wiki

PCSX ReARMed looks for the following BIOS image files inside the frontend's 'System Directory'.

  • scph5500.bin (MD5 sum: 8dd7d5296a650fac7319bce665a6a53c)
  • scph5501.bin (MD5 sum: 490f666e1afb15b7362b406ed1cea246)
  • scph5502.bin (MD5 sum: 32736f17079d0b2b7024407c39bd3050)
In case it can find no BIOS files named like this inside the 'System Directory', it will default to a High-Level Emulation BIOS. This decreases the level of compatibility of the emulator, so it is recommended that you always supply valid BIOS images inside the system directory.

You can read more in here http://wiki.libretro.com/index.php?title=PCSX_ReARMed

The wiki could aways be a little bit outdated, but I don't think so. It kept throwing the "No BIOS found" thing at me until I put the three BIOS mentioned in the wiki (SCPH5500, SCPH5501 and SCPH5502).

I'll try it then. Is there a problem if I just leave all different BIOS files inside the folder?
as long as you only have 1 bios per region it will be fine the bios are only loaded depending on the region of the game so an 01 bios for example which is a USA bios will not even be detected by a EUR game

How about everything else? I'd like to go back to gPSP but the last build I tried stuttered every time an onscreen event happened. This was a problem in Mickey Mouse Circus Caper where every enemy that appeared halted the game for a split second.
