Hi guys, .BIN files works perfectly fine for me for PSX games, however when I try to use the EBOOT.PBP version it just boots me back to the menu, then after trying it again the emulator crashes. What gives?

Currently using the latest nightly build, and the latest stable build before that, same stuff.

.PBP files are working fine for me, on the latest version. Just tested it with Legend of Dragoon.

after various tries, finally i had SF 4th (3rd hack) launching (normal 4th, not AE 2013). But after this, the game is launched is the normal version; how is possible? lol. If the file inside the zip are hacked, how the game start unmodified? (i dont have any other sf3 rom inside the game folder, only the 4th strike)

How was the speed of the game?

some eboot you get from the internet will do that
had the same problem with Breath of Fire IV eboot (on psp its fine but on vita it bounces back to retroarch menu)
so i converted bof4.bin to .pbp format via psx2psp myself and now it works

I just noticed automatic config saving on quit (or regular config saving for that matter) stopped working on all cores in the latest nightly; had to install a core from a really old nightly (Sept. 19) in order to save config...Can anyone else confirm?

The unibios files need to be put inside neogeo.zip, not in a separate zip file.

Honestly, just keep downloading different neogeo.zip files from different websites until you find a set that works, that's what I did. The issue is that there's so many different neogeo.zip files of different sizes that contain different files.

Thanks for the help, I found the problem, the Bios folder i downloaded was zip within a zip, no wonder it didnt work, it also has a unibios within. So this way my neogeo Rom sets finally started and worked just fine. I also got Kingdom Grandprix to start, and it runs great, so awesome to be able to play this game this way. I also had to learn how to structure these rom sets, I didnt know that there where Parent rom folders.
A game that I couldnt get to boot is Asterix Arcade, it consists of 5 different folders which I all added to the FBAlpha rom folder (just like I did it with the two of Kingdom Grandprix). Unfortunately it always crashes while trying to boot (after the message "Vita controller configured in port #3). On PC with FBAlpha it works just fine. Any ideas whats wrong here, or is it probably just not compatible yet?

Another question regards the settings, Ive done an input configuration especially for Tate-Mode (I played Kingdom Grandprix that way), how do I save this configuration just for these kind of games. So I dont want to overwrite the overall settings of Retroarch, I found the option save new configuration, but I couldnt find where this saves it.

I know the team is probably very busy fixing the existing bugs (and I am thankful to them for that; for the most part everything runs so great which has only been possible because Retroarch team has volunteered their time to develop the project), I was wondering whether C64 emulator Vice and MESS can eventually be ported to the Vita.

The bios must be SCPH5501.BIN, not zipped.

The games themselves can be whereever you want, as long as Retroach can access the folder.

ow crap, i downloaded the bios from baidu the chinese website , the bios titles are as follows scph101/1001/7502 , so i guess i need the scph5501 ?

I have a problem with the controls, used the latest build of the Snes9x 2005 core. I want to split the vita gamepad into two to have some simplistic local multiplayer games on the go.

Player 1:
d-pad + left analog + L-button

Player 2:
face buttons + right analog + R-button

This works in most of my setup but it seems like RetroArch doesn't allow me to completely rebind the d-pad. Although I set it up to different things like d-pad right is player 1's A, the character still moves to the right on the d-pad (although I changed "right" to left analogstick moving for player1) and d-pad right ALSO moves player 2's character to the right although player 2's right button was binded to the right analogstick moving.

Yes player 1's movement works on the left stick and player 2's movement works on the right stick but it also gets triggered when I use the d-pad, I can't see it double binded anywhere.
It's like moving a character is always binded to the d-pad regardless the configuration.

d-pad moves player 1 and player 2 simultaneously even though the bindings are different in my config.

Does anyone know why this happens?

The compression might be the issue. You can scale it yourself with psx2psp, just set the compression to 0~5 and you should be okay. A higher compression rate, makes it so that the game lags or even stops working.

E:// Also made a simple icon for PCSX, it's fitting for my custom theme. But I'll share it with you guys. Also added some fitting livearea images. Just switch them with those inside the vpk, if you wanna change it.

How can we get the ps1 bootup sound when loading a psx game ?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

The bios must be SCPH5501.BIN, not zipped.

The games themselves can be whereever you want, as long as Retroach can access the folder.
Do you have icons for 10/6 and one for psx core
Like the original PlayStation logo

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
