Retroarch has very decent snes emulators, particularly core "snes9x 2005"

VHBL has a pretty much perfect GBA emulator "GPSP Kai"

For NES, GB, Wonderswan, and some arcade machines, retroarch seems great.

But there are those emulators on PSP you could launch on vhbl which might actually run better. Maybe someone with more experience could chime in.

TLDR: All I really know is that Retroarch's SNES9x cores work better than any snes emulator you can launch on vhbl.

VHBL emulators can only use a small amount of Vitas capabilities since it runs in the PSP emulator which is build-in the Vita.
More important for me personal is that they only use 1/4 of Vitas screen resolution (the resolution of PSP, note the huge (blured) pixels comapared to e.g. what you can see in the Vita menu. A massiv difference if you emulate e.g. SNES).
The PSP emulators (VHBL) where longer in development then the native Vita ones and therefor they can be faster (since more optimized) as the native Vita emulators for now.
You can find native Vita emulators here (the bold written ones are the one I recommand. You can try the bold written ones and the VHBL emulators and decide by yourself which are better atm. Use this link for mGBA atm please).

You can find easy to install VHBL emulators here and here

Don't waste your time with N64 emulation for now (both VHBL and native Vita).

Also please note that VHBL emulators which have a native Vita counterpart will become obsolete in the near future. If you decide for a VHBL emulator you should check the Vita alternative in a month or so again :)

Thanx for your reply.
For that this forum has the like-links in the lower right corner of each post ;)

Both seem equally okay but, running VHBL you don't need the henkaku enabled cause it uses a base game as replacement so more accessable, especially if you struggle with activating henkaku sometimes, and the vita emulators aren't as developed yet, compared to a something released in 2011 (Vita) How long it took to even enable homebrew for someone to start making compatible emulators, over something released in 2005 (PSP) where they been doing it for over 10 years, while vita is better capiable than psp, it still needs time for improvement to even surpass psp. It works just as good. Now only i can get the GPSP kai working with VHBL i'll be happy. :P

To install on vhbl, the folder structure I think is:

PSP/Game/VHBL

And in the [VHBL] folder you put in [GPSPKAI] folder which would, of course, contain the appropriate eboot.

So does pcsx rftroarch working?!

Yes, but I think it runs slowly :\

Assuming you're installing the .vpks, it doesn't need anything. The cores are the actual emulators themselves, and at the moment they all install as separate vpks.

So just install the vpk of the emulator you want to use, and then use "Load Content" to load the relevant game.

Don't you normally have a option to download core and then select it? I mean that how i have done it on my android retroarch, there is a option within retroarch to download cores, from the menu. The core updater.. Or is retroarch for consoles different than this one?

Android =/= Vita.

For the Vita, each separate core is a separate VPK install. It has to install each core separately, and shows up as multiple bubbles instead of just one Retroarch bubble with each core installed. I don't recall the reason why, but at the moment this is the only way to do it.

That could seem a bit messy for the home screen, well i mean least you do have the bubble in a bubble but you can only fit 10 of them in each one, so is still a bit of organizing. I think they should do it like they have been with the update core all in one menu option, well that just adds to arguement to op question about which is better. Less messy, but probably more reliable accuratly.

To be honest retroarch has always been a confusing piece of work to set up, but i mean it works. While i prefer other emulators, i can easily grab a SNES9X or ZSNESW for playing SNES roms and Kega fusion or genesis plus for MD roms, i mean imagine my surprise how easy it is. Drag and drop rom into emulator window, and you are playing your game. I used to think MAME was complicated to set up with is Rom scanner and audit system of needing specific romsets before using any rom modifications and such, Retroarch in a nutshell.

I ask the dev who is working on it if the emulator is currently working and he says that the current versions can't load games successfully.

I never had problems with gpsp (retroarch) , but you should use mGBA anyway.
