I always use the sandisk one that comes with my Sandisk MicroSD cards that I buy. That is the only brand that I will buy and have never had an issue in my O3DS, N3DS, vWii, or WiiU
well that won't help. Mine being the san disk one that came with my micro sd card too.

Could the slider on the adapter be rubbing against the side to cause it into lock mode when inserted, but then rubs the side again when pulling it out to unlock it? I use a microSD card with adapter, and have had no problems.
It isn't loose at all so don't think that's a problem. Infact you need to apply a decent amount of pressure to put iin lock mode due to it being new and used a small amount.

Hey man had the same problem with mine a while back. you need Parition wizard. Just download it for free. I'm not on my computer at the moment but what you want to do is delete the whole sd card, apply that then format it to fat 32, primary, 64kb. Why mine was messing up was because when I used windows formatter it gave me logical which wii u and 3ds can't read you need it set to primary and it reads it. The wii u and 3ds have a every specific Parition. Primary is the dark blue color. It must be dark blue when it's done.

In the image first sd with the little Parition is what dark blue you want.

I tried that by deleting patrion, then creating it again as fat32 but still didn't work.

Try a small amount of tape over the whole write-protection switch area.
It might sound like a stupid idea, but it worked for me once. Might as well try it.

Well if that's true and you know the card is primary, than it must be the wii u it self I would clean the inside of the wii u sd card slot with rubing alcohol. With a qutip and than dry it off with the dry side of it.

I'm kinda curious about the Cluster thing previously mentioned, can someone explain why that is important, what does it do and what the reason for the option of it is? I assumed since it usually common that any time cluster is mentioned it is usually 32 or 64, which is kinda like how some pc are 32 os processing and 64 os processing but doubt it could be related.

Ok so I had my 32gb card set to cluster size 32 and Mario 3d world took 10 mins to load the world map and about 2 mins to load each level I then set the same sd card to cluster size 64 and it loads the world map in round about a minute and each level took about 7 seconds to load each level. That is why you should set the card to cluster size 64. Also most other games now load much faster.

Well thanks for telling me that but it doesn't explain the technical reason for the cluster's optional choices, you just told me the difference in speed for running a game on console using a homebrew backup loader.

Also to the person having problems, did you try using a usb adaptor for the micro sd card in the system?

You can't use a USB for the exploit. Current exploit is SD only.

To everyone saying formatting with 64K clusters or other format tools is the solution: Why exactly do you think that will fix write protect issues?

The issue isn't too uncommon: the write protect sensor in the SD slot is faulty. Unfortunately, it's soldered to the system board, though it is possible to simply bypass the write protect sensor and have it assume that the card is always unprotected. I don't remember exactly which pins need to be jumpered and/or cut for this, though.

EDIT: It's working with a regular SD card, but not the microSD adapter? There's probably some slight physical difference with the adapter causing the write protect sensor to be tripped when it shouldn't be.

I know, it was just a idea, i was wondering if the wiiu is biased against the card so if the wii u won't even read it using usb then perhaps is the card. Also maybe use the wii mode and check if the sd card can be used there, just adding ideas.

I had the same exact problem! Had to send it back to Nintendo for repair. I bought a 2nd Wii U and this one won't read any SD cards. I think Nintendo uses cheap hardware to save money.

So basically the sd card has a number of sectors on it in with your data is stored much in the way a CD has a number of tracks. The cluster size dictates how much info each sector hold so 64kb cluster size holds 64kb of data in each sector and 32gb holds 32gb of data. So a card formated to 64kb will load quicker as each sector holds more information and less sectors are being read by the wiiu.
