You have A9LH already, correct? If so, you have access to CFW, so you already can play backups (As .cia)

If you mean .3DS files, you should be able to once Gateway releases their A9LH compatible files. The 10.7 restriction is just because there isn't a downgrade method available for 11.0. Gateway is playing with the same restrictions that exist on free CFW.

So there are .cia files for backups as well? Nobody ever told me that, now I feel dumb

Hey

So next GW feature will be to boot directly to GW mode without launching synand -> GW emunand

But what will happen to current HW launcher, CFW, and other stuff already installed once HW A9LH is set ?
I'm new to A9LH thing.

Sorry, could you try rewording your question? It's a bit difficult to figure out what you're getting at.

A9LH allows you to boot CFW (Be it SysNand or EmuNand) immediately at system boot. All this means for Gateway is you can boot directly into Gateway mode when you turn on your console.

It's difficult to say just how Gateway will try to release A9LH support. They might go the route of attempting to lock people in to Gateway, making their official A9LH implementation restrict you to launching their payload (Which is stupid, and maybe impossible?), or they might just release a .bin payload alongside tools to setup A9LH (So, Gateway versions of PlaiSysUpdater and OTP Helper, essentially). The latter is preferred because it still leaves access for CFW and other useful tools (Decrypt9 and Emunand9 payloads), while the former is just stupid.

I currently have sysNand 9.2 and Emunand 10.7, using reinand, rxtools and GW (if i remember)
What will i be able to do (and what i won't) once i do the A9LH thing anounced by GW team ?
Do i lose some data ? Do i keep CTRbootManager? Is this a no return point which means that if Nintendo releases a strong security update i'll never be able to update again ?

AFAIK, at the moment no homebrew will downgrade a system on 11.0.0-33. This GW downgrade will

eh, what? Reread the OP and the GW post, it says up to 10.7 is downgradeable.... (sorry if it's been mentioned already)

First the GateWay TimeMachine app can be launched via the homebrew channel therefore valid up to 10.7 or any future homebrew advancements

In other words, my still in box v9.9 qualifies? I'm good with that.
9.9 has always qualified since the 10.3 release, even without gateway. You could go ahead and downgrade now in preparation, just use plaisysupdater and you can be ready for the update (unless you want to try out their downgrade method for fun).

After you set up A9LH you can ditch emunand for sysnand completely, and update your sysnand to the latest version. Assuming that the gateway team puts in FIRM0/FIRM1 Protection you should be good against any update nintendo puts out. You can get another bootmanager, ctrbootmanager9, if you want. Also, you get 100% bootrate. You shouldn't lose any data either.

Yes that's cool and all, BUT WHAT ABOUT GBA VC SUPPORT?????
I can't say because I'm not on the gateway team but with Luma and Rei doing it (especially with luma pulling it out of nand instead of a seperate .bin) I think you can expect that to come with it.

I put gateway away when I set up A9LH. I'm now on 11.0 sysnand with cia games including gba vc and everything works. If gateway has it that I can just pop in the card and use the gateway menu for .3ds games on top of continuing to use luma3ds I'll use it again. Anything else like downgrading to 9.2 sysnand and return to using emunand no thanks. At this point the only convenience of gateway for me is not having to install cia games.

What is with all this RED text, did I miss all the drama, looks like about 5 pages been 'hidden' from public view.. -- Oh'well i guess no laughter for me tonight! :)
It was just about "CFWs are better than Gateway posts"

You didn't miss much.

Been waiting for this. My New 3ds mhx bundle will arrive this week and I'm excited to try it with my Gateway cart. Because I also use 3ds format games it makes save transfers effortless.

Err... exactly what I said? GW's software WILL. No other homebrew does yet (At least not that I know of).

Do I need to bold and underline it for you to understand? :ha:

So it's better than Lunas or Reinand ? Already have gateway but I heard that cfw were better not sure If I should stay on gw or set up Lumas
