Sorry , I would consider myself an advanced computer user as I have a degree in IT and do it every day but this is killing me. I did not want to have to ask but I am at a loss and cannot figure this out.

After reading many posts on this site and the posts links I have the following questions "for now".
I have two old 3DSXL's one has 10.7.0-32U the other has 7.2.0-16U. I have been recently (as I could not get other down grade procedures to work) been using https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki to try and go through this process, but when I get to the downgrade of the 10.7 (cant even get past step one boy I suck) using this page https://github.com/yellows8/oot3dhax I cannot figure out what to do. I bought OOT today but I cannot figure out how to use the files on the web page to exploit the haxx save slot.

Does any one know of an OOT exploit procedure for dummies? because I cannot figure this one out https://github.com/yellows8/oot3dhax.

I thought starting with the one on 7.2 would be easier but I can find nothing on how to upgrade from 7.2 to A9LX.

Thanks!

Re-post in correct place.

OoTHax is a secondary exploit. You need to already have a hacked system to use it, or you need a device called Powersaves to access the save.

The way to go is to install Homebrew Launcher on your 7.2 one using Browserhax, then for convenience install Menuhax, then use that to install the exploit on OoT for use in the 10.7 one, and then downgrade that one to 9.2.

OOThax is a second-degree hack, meaning that you need homebrew access IN THE FIRST PLACE before you can put the exploit onto the game card.
There's currently no free solution for 10.7.0 to access the homebrew menu to put the exploit into Ocarina of Time, though.

When you do get access to the Homebrew Launcher, use this to install the exploit to your gamecard: https://github.com/phase/oot3dhax_installer/releases

Browserhax won't work on <9.0 FWs, there's no *hax payloads for those.

You aren't dumb. It's just the 3DS is complicated for even smart people.
Luckily, I am smarter than you so I can help.
Update to latest firmware and use a powersaves to do OoThax and follow palietcs guide from there.

Oh, well, then the guy hasn't easy route then, right? :(

It's Powersaves or find a friend with a system at 10.5 or lower, right?

Before you update to latest firmware, you should maybe try to find a gamecard that comes with a system update between 9.0 and 9.8 (9.9 onwards have dummy browsers, avoid), update your 7.2 3DS via gamecard update to 9.0-9.8, then use browserhax to enter the HBL and use the OoTHax installer to install the exploit for your 10.7 3DS.

That is in part why I thought the 7.2 one would be easier. So Browserhax will work on the 7.2 and allow me to exploit OOT and continue on for the 10.7 one. Does Browserhax upgrade to 9.2 or do I have to do that seperatly? Does it evein matter or have any benefit to upgrade to 9.2?

Use rxtools to update your 7.2 system to 9.2
Use browserhax to run the oothax installer and use it on your 10.7 system to downgrade.

Then you can set up an emunand on both systems and follow the guide to install a9lh

As i said, browserhax won't work on firmwares below 9.0, since there's no payloads for those firmwares. However, if you find a game card with a firmware update on it between 9.0 and 9.8, you can install that system update from the card, THEN use browserhax.
Use this site to find games that come with a certain firmware update. http://3dsdb.com/
For example, enter "9.2.0" into the search bar to see games that shipped with that firmware. Make sure you check for "3DS Game", and not for "eShop" games.

But you CAN boot RxTools through the browser. Arubaro is saying use RxTools to get to 9.0-9.2, THEN use Browserhax.

When i wrote that post, Arubaro hadn't posted yet.

His post is also pretty unhelpful in not at all detailing how one would go about the rxTools boot and update. I don't have experience with rxTools so someone else has to chip in there.

Thanks working it now!

Sort of off topic question. I read somewhere yesterday that A9LX allows the playing of 3DS ROM's but I can no longer find that anywhere. I am doing this because I am sick of my kids loosing and fighting over the carts so I want to pull the ROM's off the carts and put them on an SD card. A9LX will allow me to do this correct? Similar to how the PSP custom firmware works?

Thanks

Yeah, you can turn your cart into an .cia (a file you can install to your 3DS)
That, or you can get the .cia from... *ahem* that iso site.

Yes, you'll need to search for/dump the games you want in .cia, put them on your sd card and use the FBI thing on the guide to install them on your 3ds

(Sorry, i'm on a phone so it's hard and slow to write with this s**tty keyboard)

Yes. Having A9LH allows you to run Uncart, which in turn allows you to dump 3DS Game Cards to 3ds rom files (.3ds), and you can convert those files to installable .cias (CTR Importable Archive).
