Hi,

This is my first post and I've tried to look for an answer but could'nt find it on the forum.

So, here is my question...

If I take a game like Mario Kart 8, the data structure is:
Game\data\Code
Game\data\Content
Game\data\Meta
Game\system\02
Game\system\03

On the other end, if I take New Super Mario Bros. Wii U, the data structure is:
Game\Code
Game\Content
Game\Meta

Are the \system\ folders necessary ?
I've tried booting Mario Kart 8 without the \system\ folders and it does work. Would it work on the Wii U also ?

What is the function of the \system\ folder ?

Thanks in advance for your answers ! :)

I think \system\ folder has tickets and all other stuff that lets wii u check app signatures. This folder is not required for launching games on loadiine or cemu, because they don't sign the app before launching it.

just a random guess, but maybe... a system update?

It seems to be in fact a directory holding the Title Ticket which would be necessary to decrypt DLC, but I wonder why almost all my games does not contain the \System\ folder...

Because people chose not to include them. If you extract a WUD, it will most certainly have a system folder and a data folder. Every WUD I have decrypted/extracted has them, including NSMBU.
