So I know this is probably something not difficult, but I dont want to mess up and do the wrong thing. I've done my daughter's 3ds XL, now i'm doing my son's N3DS(XL), and I'm stuck in the OTP process (part 4) of this guide:

https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Part-4-(Getting-the-OTP)

I'm actually early, on number 11, where I'm using Decrypt9 to install FBI with the health and safety dump. I get to that part, but I can't do the dump, I get an error message, stating (not word for word), that "SD card is not formatted for emunand" . I'm sure this must be an easy fix, and that I must've skipped a step somewhere?

thanks for the help in advance.

Seems obvious, but, did you format emuNAND?

I meant create an emuNAND - I believe this is done with emunand9 at Part 3 in the guide.

Oh, yes I did. I'm able to boot into cakes emunand. The firmware is 10.7 since I updated it. The sysnand is at 9.2. I use Menuhax to get into hbc.

Are you familiar with the guide? Do I even need this health and safety step? I know it's too install fbi, where I can access it thru that health channel on the home screen, but I actually already have it in the hbc menu. Can I just skip that part?

You probably don't want to skip that. Launching FBI through HBL will launch it in sysNAND which is not your goal, installing tinyformat into the emunand and running it in the emunand is the goal. If all else fails reformat your emunand and try to dump the app again.

Edit: Later in the guide you'll be installing sysupdater to your emunand through FBI so it's a required step. In fact, treat every step as required unless it's specifically not for your system(Like unbricking the downgraded emunand on a n3ds when you're on an o3ds. In your case, don't skip over anything.)

What the person above said - plus injecting it makes it invulnerable to system formats. Did you read the big warning before the guide to follow instructions as written and not skip stuff, or else you risk bricking? :-)
