So I've recently installed Arm9Hax on my O3DS and I'm currently running AuReiNAND with 10.7.0-32E firmware, but I have one problem - I can't get my DS games to work. I've first noticed the problem when I tried to run Pokemon White 2 from my old, original R4 (using Apache Thunder's R4 TWL Launcher), immediately after loading my savegame the game crashed with "Communication error. Please turn off the power." message. Same thing happened while trying to load other Pokemon games with that R4, though they all work perfectly fine with the same R4 on my DS Lite. So I thought that maybe there is something wrong with the launcher itself, or patched TWL_FIRM file that I've installed, but then I found out that even after restoring the original, unpatched TWL_FIRM, I can't load my Pokemon White 2 savefile even on from a retail cartridge! I haven't tried any DS game on my 3DS for a while, so I'm not sure exactly might be causing it, but here are the symptoms:

  • After going to Settings->Internet Settings->Nintendo DS Connections->Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings->*empty connection profile*->Search for an Access Point, it freezes up, doesn't react to any button except Home. If I try to set up the connection manually and then test it, I get "Error Code:6 Nintendo WFC Configuration Transfer" error.
  • After starting up any Pokemon Platinum/Heart Gold, it crashes on the menu screen with "Communication error" (before I even press "Continue game"). Tested with original R4 for DS and Apache Thunder's R4 TWL Launcher, aswell as newer, R4-SDHC, which supports 10.7 3DS out of the box with the latest kernel, and was loading them without a problem last time I used it.
  • Trying to load the Pokemon White 2 from retail cartridge results in a communications error if I select "Yes" on "Launch C-Gear communications?" prompt, if I select "No", the game loads normally, but I have no access to internet features of the game. Exact same thing happens when trying to load Pokemon Black/White/Black 2/White 2 from either of my R4 flashcarts. They all work fine on my DS Lite though.
  • Restoring unpatched TWL_FIRM has no effect, so I suspect it isn't related to this problem.
  • Other DS games, that don't use Nintendo WFC (like Trackmania DS or Super Mario World), work without a problem.
I haven't tried DS games back when I used rxTools with menuhax, so I'm not sure if A9LH has anything to do with it. Any ideas on what might be causing it?

That's strange it won't be A9LH related since others, myself included use DS flashcards without issue

I can load my games from my acrekard2i or the original pokemon games without that error

Sounds like the DSi mode firmware on the 3DS is the problem

EDIT: my CFW is Auireinand 3.11

I just tried on my A9H O3DS and Pokemon Black via my DSTwo works fine, so it's not some kind of universal property of A9H . I am using Cakes rather AuRei though.

Yeah, I figured it is related to DSI mode firmware, but I have no idea on how to reinstall/fix it. I have already tried uninstalling "DS INTERNET" app with FBI and installing the one downloaded by 3DNUS in its place, but it didn't make a difference.

You haven't played around with the Sudokuhax that modifies the DS connection settings?

Are you running updated sysNAND?

If you are did you only swap ctrnand partition?

No, I've never used that.

Yes I am, as for the ctrnand partition, I'm not entirely sure, I've followed Plailect's guide for setting up A9HL (I've used menuhax + rxTools setup before). Hopefully that answers your question.

If you did what the current version says that could be the issue.

Another user also had the same problem and only moved ctrnand, if you still have the emuNAND backup from before using the guide, restore it and then extract the other partitions except firm0/firm1 and inject them

Also I'm going to assume that before setting up A9LH DS games worked fine

I fixed the same problem by injecting my emunands TWLN partition into my updated sysnand. Maybe @Plailect should add this to the troubleshooting section of the guide?

Although I have both emunand and sysnand from rxTools setup backed up, after restoring them (9.2 sysnand+10.6 emunand restored to a different SD card), the problem is still there, so I assume it started earlier and I just wasn't aware of it. Unfortunatelly, I don't have AGBSAVE, TWLN and TWLP partitions backup. Is there any way I can restore these partitions to the original state? I assume I can't use someone elses backup due to some unique data for each console (like MAC adress). Any suggestions?

So your also getting this issue in your 9.2 sysNAND as well? Did you ever use Gateway downgraded?

Another way to get DS games working again since your on O3DS is restore the 2.1 backup you should have made during Getting OTP, restore to 2.1 then from their update via sysupdater to 9.2, install A9LH then use the normal system update from the 3DS itself

That should then ensure all files are updated correctly for DSi firmware

Well, it doesn't even matter anymore, because I've upgraded my console from recovery mode, completely forgetting that A9LH is not installed on the sysnand that I was using (I was on 9.2 sysNAND that I used with rxTools). So basically, I'm now stuck on 10.7 with no A9LH, no Cubic Ninja, no nothing. Thats what I get for messing with my 3DS when I'm tired and not thinking clearly. Oh well, the hunt for OoT/Cubic Ninja begins... Either that or I'll grab a soldering iron and (knowing my manual skills) probably kill my 3DS completely in attempt to hardmod it.

OOT3DS Select and the save dongle,

I would not try to solder the thing myself even after modding systems for years

OK, I've purchased a copy of OoT3D, used my DS Lite to install OoThax on it, we're back in business. I'm currently downgrading to 9.2, then I'll downgrade to 2.1 and (hopefully) fix TWLN partition.

Unfortunatelly, I don't have 2.1 NAND backup as Plailect guide didn't say to make a backup of it. So instead, I downgraded using OTPhelper, but even on 2.1, the problem still persists. I even went as far as downgrading sysNAND to 2.1.0 and performing a system update to 10.7.0 and still, it didn't make a difference :(

[EDIT]I have finally fixed the issue. TWLN partition was functioning properly all long, it was the hardware problem. Unplugging and plugging the Wi-Fi module back to the motherboard fixed it.
