How-To Thread Here

Okay, so I picked up a Amiibo PowerSaves at Gamestop today. I know the Maxlander and NaMiiO are just modified versions of the APS base but my Maxlander portal does not register as a APS or a NaMiiO.

But since the NaMiiO is compatible with the APS software, I thought they'd be the same, with no hardware mods.

Sure enough, I was right. You can even restore Amiibo backups to the Powertag that comes with it.

If you dont' believe me/want to try it yourself, you can buy the Amiibo PowerSaves device.
Keep in mind if you but it from another place make sure it includes the Powertag.

If anyone is curious, I have 4 Maxlander tokens, a Maxlander base, an Amiiqo, an Amiiqo USB R/W, an Amiibo PowerSaves, and a Amiibo PowerSaves Powertag, and I am open to testing to anything of the matter

UPDATE: You can use this and the NaMiiO Software to restore Amiibo .bin's to empty NTAG215's!

Thanks for the intel! I'd been wondering this myself, but I only ever found folks asking the same question without any real answer. So... can you provide any more instructions? Just buy the PowerSaves thing from GameStop (my local one has 'em in stock) and stock up on those blank NTAG215 stickers?

Yup! And the Powertag that is now includes with the APS is also compatible for Amiibo bin's, AND IT'S RE-WRITABLE, unlike the regular NTAG215's! (Like NaMiiO tokens, Amiiqo, etc)

So if I understand correctly, you could essentially use this rather than an amiiquo (or something similar?) but the power tag can only have one amiibo on it at a time? If so then that's a great cheaper alternative!

Yup. Just went out and bought it, and it works just like you say. With the NaMiiO software, the included "PowerTag" works as a one-at-a-time Amiiqo device. Just used it to unlock all the outfits in Mario Kart 8!

Well I hope you have fun with it @fuze9 , but there is a way to write the bins with the Powersaves tool, which seems to be alot more stable then NaMiiO 's tool.l

Drop the Amiibo bins in C:/Users/youruse/Powersaves For AMIIBO/.

Name it Yarn Yoshi Green_28bdeac1_2016-03-20_[My Yarn Yoshi].bin

That's just an example of the file name format the Powersaves software will read. Change My Yarn Yoshi to whatever amiibo name you want to show up in the software. :)

Oh, nifty! I was wondering about data placement. (I kinda saved different versions of the same amiibo, and it'll be good to tidy them up in file explorer.) Thanks for all the advice.

Now if only we can find a way to do the same thing with Disney Infinity...

And for $30 too! I might run into GameStop tomorrow and grab one! It would be fun to mess around with if anything. Haha

Is it possible to store multiple amiibo on the tag it comes with? Or is it more of a one at a time sorta thing.

One at a time but re-writable. Like the NaMiiO and Maxlander tokens

I through together a Windows script to automatically rename the Amiibo files correctly and place them in the Powersaves directory. Incoming soon.

That'd be great. I was kinda looking into an amiiquo for a minute there, but I didn't really feel like spending that much, or trying to deal with some of the iffy sellers out there. haha

So basically, you can use those bootleg NFC tokens with the Amiibo Powersaves to write the amiibo's data to it, and make your Wii U think it's a legit amiibo?

That's pretty interesting - and I've actually had the Amiibo Powersaves for months, back when it first went up for sale on Amazon (before GameStop started carrying it). Anyone know where I can get some of those tokens without paying $65 for the entire "NaMiiO" device?

Sounds cool, good work. The Powersaves that's currently on sale here in the UK doesn't include the tag, but I'd still be able to use it with those cheap blank write-once tags, right?

@The Real Jdbye, I thought about that and I have blank DVD's and Blurays but honestly after like 90 songs I just listen to it a couple of hundred times toss it out and burn something else or have like 2-3 CD's. Florida here the heat in the car tends to ruin the CD's after like a few months even commercial pressed ones don't last too long.
