I just want people's opinions on this.

The other day, somebody who I haven't had contact with in about 7 years randomly sent me a message on Facebook. He said that he left something at my house and I 'kept it', which shows a lot about my character. I never had the object in question, nor did I ever remember him leaving it at my house, over 7 years ago.

Now, he blindly accused me on facebook without an introduction or explanation. It was basically "You kept what was mine, you're an arsehole" in simple phrasing.

I'm quite irritated at this completely uncalled for insult into my character. What would you do? Somebody accuses you of stealing something out of the blue, with no explanation, years since you even spoke last.

Oh no, I basically said to him that I never had it, and probably don't have it anymore anyway. I've moved home literally 8 times since he was at the place I lived back then.

I misworded, I said that I never had it, and even if I did, I didn't anymore.

Apparently trading cards, but I never remember seeing them or him leaving them, so I have no idea what he was talking about.

7 years would see you back in school. With very few exceptions then anybody from those days I try not to speak to and most people I meet that I care to know have long since learned to ignore those they went to school with or hung around with at the time. Likewise I am one of the cool kids without facebook, partially to aid in that process.

Anyway as for my reaction of choice

lol well you could be nice and just say sorry i dont know that they were left at mine or knowingly have them in my posession, being as it was 7 years ago weather you had them or not the person in question shouldnt have left them. if he is nasty about all of it just say you have 3 trading cards he can have

and thats me being polite lol... 7 years ago jesus.. tell him weather he left them or not its too late and his problem and if he is feeling so truly nostalgic to find the cards in question link him to ebay then block him

Tell him to eat shit. For starters, if you had the item, why wait 7 years to contact you? Sounds to me like some precious little snowflake looking to cause a ruckus in the hope that you'll cave in and give them free stuff. So I reiterate; tell him to eat shit.

To accumulate resentment for 7 years on something probably is only in his head it shows how much of an empty life he may have.
Let him be such a failure and say good bye, see you never again.

this seems silly to me in the usa there are laws about this kind of thing if he indeed let you hold on to them 7 years ago and has not paid you for the service nor requested the item(s) in question back then after 1 year are considered abandoned property at which point they become property of the owner of the location (or service) they were abandoned in
but again that is in the usa where you live may be another story

You can safely block them. This is what you could consider "an idiot". You told them you don't have it and have no memory of ever having it. If they keep harassing you, end it. If it was a relationship that was worth saving, then I'd say try and save it. But it's not.

Do not value their opinion of you. They have not known you for 7 years. Block them and don't think of them again, unless to tell an odd story about how messed up people are.

Personally I think if you react to them you will validate whatever is going on in their head. Block them and be done with it.
