Hi all,

Just wanted to post a recommendation for @gamesquest1's hardmodding service in England. He got my n3DS back to me within a week and has done a fantastic job. The port looks like it was meant to be there, and the soldering is a really neat job. Even though he's done hardmods for others and has a huge post count here, I was still uncertain about sending my 3DS to someone I don't know. But @gamesquest1 has proved not only his skill but also his trustworthiness :)

Here are some photos of his work on my n3DS:

(click thumbnails for larger versions).

I highly recommend a hardmod to anyone who wants to downgrade but is worried about bricks. Even softbricks are disastrous now as they will force an update to 10.4, meaning no possibility of downgrading for now. Having a backup of your sysnand stored safely means you can confidently do whatever you want to your 3DS with no fear of bricks or accidental updates :)

Thanks @gamesquest1 for your quick and fantastic work!

Oh and I forgot to say, he even did the 9.2 downgrade for me to save me a job, took NAND dumps before and after the downgrade and uploaded them for me, and included the port to SD card adapter cable :)

How much did you have to pay for it? I may have to request his services for a hardmod since I had to send my 3DS to Nintendo for repair and I just know its gonna come back with 10.4 installed.

He charged me just £25 plus return postage, which was an amazing price considering the time it must have taken to do such a great job of it!

what benefit other than risk of downgrade bricking?
Never have to worry about updates because you can backup your nand and get back to an earlier version.

Oh crap, he lives in Europe? Damn. The postage would be just too much to send internationally lol.

You need @hundshamer 's services most likely. He's a little more pricey than gamesquest for a full nand mod but, last I checked, his basic unbricking (just a backup restore) is $25. Just shoot him a PM.

Gotcha! I'll just shell out the money for a full mod so I never have to worry about my system bricking again lol.

@gamesquest1 £25 + P+P is a very good price, being from the England I might have to take you up on this.

Edit: IM torn, got my N3ds in november and it still has 3 three warranty ( 8 months of walk into shop and swap for another warrany left.)

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze

    Booo.

same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.
  • Veho @ Veho:
There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.
