I think you misread..It was "Hacking The Wii U - A Simple Progress Guide", actually. I thought a sticky's info would be correct, that's why I was so confident in posting the statement about restoring the NAND.
It doesn't mention dumping/restoring Wii U NAND anywhere. The " especially on the Wii U" part means with vWii instead of a regular Wii console. I know there's a guide on another website where a user said he has done it successfully (and downgraded), but AFAIK nobody has been able to repeat the process and there have been several bricked systems. Is Wii Mode (vWii) hacked yet?
Yes! But there are some issues..
What does that mean?
What can we actually DO in vWii Mode?
Here’s a simple, easy to use list of our current progress in Hacking the Virtual Wii in the WiiU.
(Basically, most stuff works the same, with a few exceptions.)
- Dump the NAND? YES! (FSToolbox has been updated to work with the vWii.)
- Restore the NAND? YES! But Be Careful!(NAND Restores are always dangerous if you don't know what you are doing, ESPECIALLY on the WiiU! Make sure you do!)
