No NAND capabilities whatsoever or just for the latest update? Because you can actually restore the NAND if your heart desires. :P

At all, as far as I know. People like @hundshamer (who is a well known 3DS hard modder) haven't had luck yet with it. If the situation's changed though, that's good to know.

You mean that old vWii homebrew? That won't dump the Wii U portion of the NAND..
No, not really, but vWii modding is still going strong. You can still play VC/WiiWare titles and run unsigned code on it, after all. There's a glimmer of hope the Wii U NAND will be dumped with IOSU exposed... :D

So your previous post is incorrect. Be careful what you feed some of the feeble minds here. You may cause them to take risks thinking they can go back. It's not nice to mislead someone with their $250 hardware.

Good. I'll edit it now.

P.S.: That's what one of the stickies said. I only trusted it. And also, I don't really perceive others as "feeble minds".

If you blocked auto-updates on your Wii U, you shouldn't be seeing the update automatically on your console if you power it on. You can still choose to postpone the update by a little bit. Also, if you're still able to access YouTube, please modify your Wii U's internet settings more carefully and reboot the console. You should then be seeing an X on the Download Manager icon and be unable to access YouTube.

Turned off my router and rechecked and DNS is set to "Do not auto obtain" with the TubeHax in both Primary and Secondary. Rebooted Wii U, turned on router and 5.5.1 started downloading...

So yeah I have absolutely no idea what's up, I even checked this youtube video and my settings are exactly the same. Does TubeHax work in the UK or just specific countries?

Speaking about vWii,

I installed homebrew on my vWii when my wii-u was on 5.3.2. My console is now on 5.5.0. Would this affect the vWii homebrew?
Don't think so. vWii modding is still possible (because the Wii and vWii firmware hadn't been developed past 4.3), and no files should have been deleted.

It works globally. Either there were techincal difficulties on the host's end, or it just doesn't work for some reason. There are other methods in the OP (such as manual URL filtering in your router or block the Wii U's MAC address - I don't recommend blocking the MAC address though, because that leaves you with no internet).

Here's a tip: if it didn't work, try unplugging the router and turn on your Wii U after. Plug the router back in and investigate the issue.

Thankfully I turned off the Wii U before 5.5.1 was installed. About to do a full system reset after I backup my saves then will try it again.

For the record, is the secondary DNS supposed to be 0.0.0.0 or are both supposed to be 107.211.140.065?

EDIT: Ah Goddamnit, there WAS another connection (Connection 4), which I didn't see because you have to scroll down to see it. Ok let me see if I can set it up now.

Both ways work. I use the 0.0.0.0 as secondary.

Alright yeah now its working, can't get onto youtube and in downloads there's an error next to the system update. Sweet.

I'm guessing though since I'm on 5.5.0 that I should just let it install 5.5.1 since it's the same in terms of exploit compatibility, right?

Yes. Technically yes.

Hi,

I'm in the same situation as you. I'm staying on 5.5.0, just in case, 'cause you never know. ;)

No. You should not, because we don't know if their update is "trapped" yet. Although it's just speculation, I still wouldn't trust it.

Seeing as 5.5.1 can only run Loadiine V1.0, does anyone know if there is a compatibility list for that version around somewhere? I've looked, but I've had no luck.
Not that anyone knows of so far.

Out of curiosity, which thread? I respect all members, but there certainly are some feeble minds here haha. I just don't post info unless I'm 100% certain, or give a disclaimer with the info that I'm not certain about.

Nope, they're both separate pieces.

Glad you figured it out. No, don't update yet.. Everyone should just sit tight where they are until Hykem's IOSU Exploit comes out and then you can go from there. (By the end of February now)

End of february? Gosh darnit. Was so excited that it would finally come out, then it gets rescheduled again :(.

It won't be that long. :P

Hykem extended his vacation until then, but he said the exploit will be released long before the end of February. :3

It was "Hacking The Wii U - A Simple Progress Guide", actually. I thought a sticky's info would be correct, that's why I was so confident in posting the statement about restoring the NAND.
